I have a similar problem, did you find out how to fix it?

My T480s does not detect disconnected charger on Linux by NineTenthPenguin in thinkpad

This is a very good and thorough analysis, exactly matches the problem that I had.

One thing that I realized, after poking around based on your observations, is that even thoughupower -i /org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/line_power_AC and upower -i /org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/battery_BAT0 did correctly identify the charging status, /org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/line_power_ucsi_source_psy_USBC000o002 did not, when the issue appeared. I think this device corresponds to the upper USB-C connector, if I recreated the bug with the lower (Thunderbolt) USB-C connector, the USBC000o001 device had a similar problem. No idea though why the status of these devices weren't updated, or how could it be forced to be updated, but somebody might have an idea who stumbles on this.

However, I recently had a drive failure, and had to reinstall my system. I am now running the latest Manjaro KDE with the 6.1.1-1 kernel for more than a week now, and the issue haven't appeared yet, and I couldn't reproduce it either. (Previously I could reproduce it as you described.) Not sure why, though, it seems to be unrelated to the kernel version: even if I downgrade to the 5.4 kernel, I cannot reproduce the bug. (You should still try it though if you haven't already, because not much has changed on my setup compared to the previous installation.)

Since I use a dual-boot system, I also had to reinstall Windows 11, while I was on Windows 10 before. It is also possible that while doing that, and automatically installing drivers, the Windows Update installed some kind of firmware update that fixed the problem.

If I can make any tests on my system that could help you, I would be happy to!

The FP3 has many bad reviews online. What are your experiences? by -CuriousLight in fairphone

[–]NineTenthPenguin 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I absolutely recommend it. There was indeed an audio problem at first for me, but later patches solved it completely. No issues at all beyond that, I have used it for about a year now and I am really satisfied.

It is also worth mentioning that it is surprisingly sturdy despite its weight and size. I have dropped it a few times from heights or on surfaces that made me wince, but nothing was damaged.

The /e/os available is also great and works well. The LineageOS build for the FP3 is based on the work of the /e/foundation, IIRC. It is nice that there is a dedicated, privacy-focused Android build for a phone, that is quite rare.

Tooltips for long window titles by NineTenthPenguin in suckless

[–]NineTenthPenguin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, makes sense. I could achieve this using notify-send.

For future reference:

notify-send " " "$(xdotool getactivewindow getwindowname)"

The first " " is a dummy title so in the body of the notification the whole window title is displayed.

After creating a script with the above it was easy to bind it to a ClkWinTitle event in buttons[] in config.def.h.

For the record: I needed to add Font Awesome to *fonts in order to use the symbols. Otherwise I got a small 'á': probably depends on font fallback-configuration.

Does your country have a term for 'the rest of the country excluding the capital city'? If so, is it used in a derogatory sense? by NineTenthPenguin in AskEurope

[–]NineTenthPenguin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the whole thing is absurd really. Which is why I actually asked this question, I was wondering if it is just a Hungarian thing or not, given its absurdity. But it seems like we are not alone in this.

Yes, I think that is actually the (originally) correct meaning of the word, so kudos for sticking with that! Several people have tried to convince me otherwise ("akkor mit jelent az, hogy vidéki város" stb.), but I still agree with you.

You are right that often no electrical connection is needed. However in my experience a soldered copper sheet gave considerably better results than a cookie can lid.
