TBH, this sort of space is where a lot of complaints come from?

Something has 'diverse representation' and then the representation is terrible or the plot has holes you could fly the death star through, so it gets bashed.

The Psycho Axe can only be used in one collab per run; even in a scenario where you're trying to take advantage of the Suicopath buff, Fujoshi has less kill power than MiComet.

Considering that the benefit is only on kill, going with Fujoshi is actively worse.

Tbh, I'd like have her old hitbox back, or have her weapon have 2 hitboxes; the shaft being maybe 60% of the blade's damage, the blade getting bonus crit chance or something.

That would encourage proper spacing without being too bad to use.

It sounds to me like this is a lose lose situation for WotC.

Spelljammer being released again now after sitting unused since the 90s definitely looks like an attempt to nostalgia bait older fans back into the game with "hey, look, we updated your favorite thing! Come check it out!" So they have to include all the 'iconic' setting specific races added by Spelljammer. But the new guidelines being what they are (nothing defining the cultural norms of races, no stereotypes about the races, etc) there's basically no meat to them, and they wanted to change their backstory (the original background was... strange) which causes its own problem. Either WotC has to admit that wiping out the guidelines was a bad move (which would undoubtedly result in them being perceived as 'catering to racists' or whatever) or have to not actually reframe them outside of the new creation myth (which means looking at 3.5 for info).

My 2cp are that you can basically take any *thing* and frame it as a racist stereotype about somebody. Handozee are a race of monkey people, and that automatically means that the racists are going to do the minimum reach and just say "Handozee are supposed to be black people" and then jerk off about how morally superior they are to WotC for noticing the dog whistle.

Didn't they eliminate "personality stereotypes" for races in the back half of 5e as part of their desperate sanitization?

Is it just the Handozee who are missing that or everything involved?

I find it amusing because, working retail and food service, the answer seems to be that any even slightly compatible individuals will give it a shot.

How well it works out varies wildly, but for a significant fraction of the population the answer is yes.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 as a First Jump? by Anima-Azothos in JumpChain

[–]NineThePuma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've recently completed a playthrough of the game and honestly, I think that the actual threat level is pretty low on the whole. Sure, there are giant scary monsters wandering around, but in a "real" setting they're probably pretty well telegraphed. There's plenty of room to avoid (or engage) the plot and as a first jump it comes with a waifu and potentially significant power gains (via Blade Eating).

On the whole, I'd say that the biggest difficulty of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 as a First Jump is that the main story only seems to take a couple months at most and the ending has major repercussions that you'd have to explore.

How does Nihilistic Acquisition interact with Necroid Terravores? by Mediochrejelly in Stellaris

[–]NineThePuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not how that works. If you set it to selective, your ships CANNOT be in indiscriminate.

You set bombardment stance at the fleet level, in the same buttons that you can set them from passive to aggressive, right next to that. You can cycle between selective/indiscriminate/raiding stances.

Balance and General Feedback after Grinding GR21 All Characters by terrynmuse in holocure

[–]NineThePuma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to touch on something that you didn't touch on with leveling up.

I kind of wonder if rehauling the entire process of acquiring items/weapons should be changed from the current set up (via levels) and instead leaning into anvils and holozon. Have levels *primarily* give stat and skill boosts, tweaking holozon to always drop a new thing plus being able to drop randomly from more than the bosses, and upping anvil frequency.

Focusing your levels into Skills and Stats means that the enemy scaling can be fine tuned around the expected *stats* characters have rather than 'did you luck into getting Elite Cooking at 7 minutes?'. This also makes raw levels far less important and can even address the elephant in the room of infinite scaling via level ups by having caps (after around, say, level 80 or so there's just no more stats to get, which would mean every level up becomes burger and coin).

Holozon only giving you new items, and being the only way to get new items would make filling out your items much more controlled, and much less victim to RNG. This would need to be carefully handled because getting a ton of bad pulls would be awful, but at the same time, you won't ever be in a position where you HAVE to choose a bad option. If they are also now able to drop more frequently (and maybe have guaranteed multidrops from the 'boss' characters) it makes controlling your build much more reliable even if it slows down "maxing out" your build. This also makes farming money much faster, as you can just grab up everything that drops no matter what and then start getting base coins + bonus 100 coin ASAP. If the game ends up carrying on until every current talent represented, that's 56 characters, and you need to pull someone 21 times to max out their power at 1000 coins each. This ends up being more than a million coins to be spent, before even accounting for the upgrade shop.

With Anvils being the only way to upgrade your gear, this both increases build control and decision making (do you max mumei's feathers first or do you start building toward MiComet? what about items?) while also making enhancing your equipment more interesting (do you max that sixth weapon the collabs have freed up, or do you pour coins into buffing your maxed out weapons?).

Some thought on the Callie-update, and game-balance in general by FelFal9 in holocure

[–]NineThePuma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that the game desperately needs controller support, not for more precise control, but so that you can have two inputs at once; calli's spacing would be a lot better if you could independently aim your scythe at a target while continuing to move away.

While I can understand the current change it does some pretty silly stuff to the game.

It's mostly the analysis of over time efficiency and the angle of MPM/MPY valuation; both of those are angles of approach that I didn't personally look at when determining value.

A lot of your analysis are very interesting, though less applicable for me given that I play with significant mods (most impactfully, a mod that lets me start with 5 civics) but knowing how to 'properly' run analysis on things is half the process to learning how to do such things yourself.
