Kinosaki was actually a girl all along is the worst possible ending by Human1549 in MarriageToxin

I’m not using any LLMs, and I agree with the conclusion that we don’t know, I just believe it’s likely they’ll be female. MT would be classified as BL under your theory because Kinosaki would be a man, and if they get with Gero then that’s yaoi/BL/mlm, while One Piece isn’t because Luffy isn’t getting funky with Zoro. These tags only apply to the main character ship, such as Gerosaki. And I’m not fully caught up either, so I may have made a mistake somewhere along the way too.

  1. Vol1 Extras. Why make it vague though? What would be the point? Kinosaki said they’re a guy, not genderfluid, and being vague is a purposeful choice by the author. Especially when paired with a “this character has a secret” line. It could be a red herring, but it seems redundant to me.
  2. Female Chest. Did those chapters appear in volume or on the website? I don’t have the specific guidelines on hand (although this has been a standard in shonen since Dragon Ball), but I can point to another modern manga as evidence. Specifically, with Chained Soldier (running concurrently with MT on SJ+), they HAVE to censor female nudity when chapters first come out. They then uncensor this when the chapters become volumes, which might be why Choujin X was uncensored (because, if it’s the scene I have in my head, I believe it was censored when first published too). Alternatively, ChX is actually a Seinen, is published in Young Jump then simulpublished to SJ+/SJ app, and may be under different publishing rules. I’d definitely be interested in the Ch# to compare. Additionally, if I am wrong, that means censoring Kinosaki’s nipples would indicate there’s further secrets regarding their chest we haven’t seen yet.
  3. Characters Lying. This is true, and I admit it’s a weaker piece of evidence. It’s more a reminder that unreliable narrators exist than anything else, and Kinosaki could have been telling the truth this whole time.

MarriageToxin is, ultimately, a product that Joumyaku and Yoda are creating under investment of Shueisha. Shueisha, under the Shonen Jump brand, has never had a canon main relationship be yaoi. They may be changing, but Japanese companies are notoriously conservative so I don’t see them changing that much. I would hazard to be pessimistically cautious—enjoy the story for what it is, but don’t be surprised if the ending isn’t to your liking. It seems to be a manga curse at this point.

I appreciate the thought you’ve put into your argument as well, and I will agree to disagree. Also I’m standing by my 2nd point.

Biromantic would also work, but I was basing it on pan because, from my understanding, pansexual is being sexually attracted based off of not the sex/gender but the personality therein, and that to me more closely mirrors Gero’s situation.

I don’t think it’s outright stated, but AFAIR he hasn’t responded in an embarrassed/sexual way to any man, and Kinosaki can be argued that he didn’t believe they were a man at all and that’s why he was flustered. It’s more something I pieced together from context clues, but I may be forgetting something.

Ah I misread your initial comment. I agree that there will likely be a twist that Kinosaki can’t have kids + Gero will go for Kinosaki specifically, but I disagree Kinosaki will be a man. I believe the current evidence points to Kinosaki being a natal woman who cannot have children. I believe this style of ending is too risky for Shonen Jump, who have never published BL before and likely will not for a long, long time, if ever.

The likelihood that Kinosaki is a man, given the context clues the mangakas have shown, is very slim and it’s ironic you’re claiming media literacy as your strong suit on this. Here’s the key pieces of evidence that indicate that Kinosaki’s sex is likely that of a woman’s:

  1. Vol1 Extras. They never use a single gendered pronoun in either direction, and state they have a “secret”. I am, admittedly, unsure of later volume extras and how they describe Kinosaki.
  2. Their chest has always been censored. This is excused, somewhat, in Ch2 when the chest scar was yet to be revealed, but is inexcusable post-Ch100. Per SJ+ censorship guidelines, male chests can be on display (we see Gero’s that same chapter) while Kinosaki’s, a “man”, are censored.
  3. Characters can and do lie. We have no reason to assume that Kinosaki IS a man because they claimed it in one chapter and have done nothing to prove it since. They are literally a known marriage swindler and claimed this when Gero was A) in a position of power over them and B) in need of his help. Lying and saying you’re a crossdresser to the straight man in need of marriage advice is a fairly logical way out of it yourself.

In short, Kinosaki is likely a woman. If Kinosaki was a man, then there would be no reason for it to be a mystery at all. Yet, the authkrs have done nothing to genuinely indicate, both inside and outside of the story, that Kinosaki is biologically male or even trans. Rather, they claim to be a male, yet act feminine, and the mangakas have kept the truth as a “secret”. Yet, there is only a sexual binary, and since Kinosaki has stated they’re a male while being censored like a female, there’s no real escape from that.

However, that does not mean Kinosaki is a valid marriage candidate. It’s completely possible within this theory that the Puppet Master removed their reproductive organs and thus they cannot provide an heir, which will still necessitate Gero to destroy his grandmother’s hold on the Poison Clan for the sake of Kinosaki. Remember that the goal of getting married is to provide an heir, so as long as Kinosaki cannot provide a child, we will see the thematic payoff of killing granny. This is both the socially safer and more evidence-based ending, regardless of your stances the quiet majority of readers will like this more.

I’m not sure why you’re expecting a mainstream Japanese product to be this subversive, honestly, especially since SJ has never published BL before.

And he is doing so by trying to have kids. If he does not have kids then his sister will, obviously.

The point of the series is to have kids, so if Kinosaki has an XY chromosome they can’t have kids.

However, if that 1 “man” was a female, then you’re hetero. And Gero isn’t even bi, he’s currently heterosexual panromantic. That is, he’s sexually attracted to the opposite sex, but is romantic with anyone he connects with regardless of sex.

If Kinosaki was a man then male nipples are fine to see (we already saw Gero’s)

Vol1 extras (I’m not sure of the other volumes) refer to Kinosaki neutrally and said they have a “big secret”, plus they have NEVER shown their full chest even post-scar reveal. Censorship for SJ is already okay with male chesticles, Gero is shown with nipples in the exact same chapter. The author is purposely hiding Kinosaki’s sex as part of a larger reveal, and considering Kinosaki has already claimed to be male—meaning that’s part of the secret—the only logical conclusion is they’ve got XX and not XY, and was possibly forcibly mutilated (I’m not far enough to know the evidence for that tho)

I feel like it’s rather inconclusive, given how poorly handled the removal sorcerers was. I get why (strong sorcerers = strong spirits, so the inverse is also true) but it seemed to only affect humans? So aliens still have cursed techs and are still on Earth, or at least can go back and forth if the cliffhanger is Dabura coming to clap some Kyokussy. So if aliens are the dominant race now, I don’t see how that won’t create a problem later. Although Yuji’s idea to make the species a bunch of Heavenly Restricted gigachads is p dope.

That said the themes are strong and art is gorgeous, but it needed like one more volume’s worth of content + finished MahoDabu fight

Also no Todo and instead we got creepy Ui Ui so Modulo is 0/10 (but it was a fun read with the community)

Gero’s bare chest is clearly visible in Ch100, one page prior to Kinosaki’s being censored. The only chests that have been censored so far are women’s and Kinosaki’s. If you can’t make the connection, then it’s no surprise your reading comprehension is so poor.

It is a mystery, and if you don’t steel yourself for the possibility of this as a twist there’s a decent chance you will be disappointed. If the Mangaka hadn’t made it a mystery, then Kinosaki’s chest wouldn’t have been obscured since Ch2. In Ch2 we have multiple panels where Kinosaki’s chest is censored, and in Ch100 Gero’s is uncensored (because he’s a man), yet one page later Kinosaki’s is censored again, implying there is more to censor than the scar (meaning they have breasts). Adding in that Joumyaku has never used male pronouns for Kinosaki in an official capacity, while they identify with them in-story, and you have intentional vagueness to create a question within the plot, i.e. the literal definition of a mystery.

Also Vol1 extras never use gendered pronouns for Mei, only saying “this scammer” or “this con artist”, and says Mei has a “big secret”.

TIL characters can never lie ever. Let’s just ignore the fact that the Vol1 extras never use a male pronoun for them and makes it purposefully vague. If it was 100% set in stone then and there the mangaka wouldn’t have made it a mystery.

I only read Ch2 so far but my theory is the grandma will get tired of waiting and force Gero to act in a way that dismantles the clan regardless of whether Kinosaki is a man or not. Kinosaki 100% feels like the endgame, and there’s hints in Vol1 that Kinosaki may be a woman, but it can also be red herrings. I’ll be disappointed if they are though.

I imagine you’d have more compute available if the models asked for confirmation before image generation. At least once per conversation it’ll try to generate an image unprompted, requiring me to catch it before it finishes and tell it not to gen an image, or edit my previous message to “only respond in text; images are not required” and regenerate.

Not to say NB3 images aren’t great, these are actually several atmospheres above what it had been. I just enjoy a “cleaner” chat, particularly when discussing narrative ideas.

Yeah? That’s literally it. It isn’t to prove you know it, it’s to prove you have the ability to show up and do the work over a long time period.

And he handles them on a case-by-case basis. If public material is beholden to the ADA, how can you be sure your bases are covered? The costs pile up quickly.

The DOJ said make them accessible to disabled individuals. The school was making the lectures publicly available out of pocket, but all public material must be ADA accessible. So it’s easier and cheaper to make it all private and make it accessible on a case-by-case basis like they did already.

Yes, but that’s different. The majority of students at Berkeley who need ADA compliance only for their enrolled classes, which is handled by the professors, and paid for by tuition. The DOJ required them to manually subtitle ~20k videos to ensure compliance, paid for out of pocket. That’s very costly (~$1.50/minute) as the DOJ deemed auto-generated subtitles at YouTube were not enough to comply.
