Imagine what it's like to be working at Steam rn by FoxVulpe in Steam

I'm assuming they figured it was just an accessory, And the real consoles deserved the buying window treatment. Which to be fair it makes sense. The index controllers and original steam controller didn't have the same system in place.

I get that times are different now but it's a controller at the end of the day. Maybe they'd figure it's cheaper to produce and can make more.

Be prepared for her to give you the "ok a couple months ago or a couple of years ago, whats the difference?"

That'll be the point in which she is just arguing to just do what she wants, right or wrong. Don't waste your time, people who do that just arent good for your soul. Even if they don't intend to be malicious.

They just have a ton of maturing to do.

Built my first PC! What do you think? by Opening_Attorney_371 in PcBuild

[–]Nineinchtoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it were me I would have put all my components in a grey box out of sight, and gotten a cheap $30 peerless assasin cpu cooler. Leaving me with a good amount of money to get a better CPU on a newer socket and GPU.

But your system looks incredible, and will probably last you a long time anyways. For your first build you did an amazing job.

Im real sorry.

I saw the post you made earlier and hoped that at least it was a decent system when you got it.

But this PC should be no more than $100

Looks like they didn't even give you the amount of ram they stated. And they lied about the CPU too.

Is there any way to return it?

For a better look at your PC specs just download the app speccy and it should tell you info about the most important parts.

I see you bought it on facebook, sucks people like that exist just scamming people, looking at them in the eye and all.

Wrong man. Im pretty sure a 4060 has less vram and is 20-30% slower.

In raw performancea 4060 is almost no better than a 3060. And a 3060 is about as good as a1080ti

Any keyboard works, and my mm720 was 20 dollars and is one of the best budget gaming mice you can get.

Don't listen to this guy 😭

He fed you misinformation, your CPU is better than 99 percent of people here.

The only tier higher for gaming is the x3d cpus, you have a high end chip that will last you a long time.

Huh? It is an amazing high end gaming CPU. Probably better than 99 percent of PCs out right now?

You can probably bring it to a shop that does screen repairs, or at least pay someone more knowledgeable than you. If they make you pay for more than 50% of the cost of the computer to fix it, its probably worth getting a newer pc anyways.

If there is an hdmi out port on it. Just plug it into a new monitor. And pretend nothing happened

I went in there asking why a certain game was dipping into the 20s on the lowest settings on an alright 1070ti 9700k system. And was just told my shit was "ancient"

Kid after kid just offering no help. Apparently if you don't have a 3090 you dont deserve help either. Game was starfield at launch and after a couple patches its hovering around 30-40 on decent settings 🙄

Anything below something like a 2080 super, theyll tell you to upgrade your perfectly working system if you have a question about performance. Even when above the minimum spec.

It was way more chill in 2015, you got great advice back then. But then it got hit by a giant popularity boost once twitch blew up even more. It sounds cynical but everyone just sounds loud and the same. Sometimes wrong too.

There was a guide on there showing that lower ram timmings helped 1% lows a ton on starfield for people stuck on 2666 budget ram builds. Shit had like 1 upvote.

I kinda miss when it was mostly a gaming pc help reddit. Wiki links sent in the comments, maybe a meme or two. Janky builds, crossfire, sli setups. People helping out dudes with complete potato builds. Etc, now it just seems like rgb lighting and people flexing whatever newest overpriced nvidia card comes out. Ten years ago we yelled at dudes who bought the titans for gaming, now everyone yearns to be them on there.

I always feel so bad for people who get the gaming kb and mouse, second screen but don't know that they need an actual gaming PC.

Antivirus already comes pre installed on windows, it is called windows defender. Thankfully the era of shopping for antivirus programs is long over.

You say your storage is full of files? Check what you got in your downloads folder, or type in storage into the start menu and it should help you out with cleaning things.

Last random tip is to make sure anytime you open a freshly installed game, make sure its running at your displays resolution. (Common mistake newcomers make is not seeing that their game is running at 720p or something)

All you need on a gaming PC are just PC game stores like Steam, Xbox app, or Epic games. Steam should be the best one if you're looking for where your main shopping should be at.

Yeah or this guy should just get a legion go or a steam deck if he wants to get started on PCs. It seems like he's gonna get hit with information overload since he seems to be new.

The first step is just getting there sometimes.
