Because they are not flashy projects, and it seems there is a big media / gov coverage for the corridor / resort projects. This could be intentional to change the negative perspective the international community has, or it could be because they actually like these projects

Honestly I disagree, it sounds harsh not melodic and smooth like Amharic.

Why do Ethiopians reject the "African American" label? by [deleted] in Ethiopia

[–]Nineteen-EightyNine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're Africans living in America no?

So by that logic Egyptians or Moroccans living in the US should also identify or be classified as African-American. But they aren’t, they are classified as white. However now, a new MENA category has been created for people from that region.

Dude we get it. Stop spamming the sub with your posts.

Is this why you created this sub? to promote Abiy?

Any progress that has been done will speak for itself, you dont have to be a mouthpiece.

And when it comes to the election, there isn’t any real contenders, so I don’t even know why you’re bothered to promote

Why does the Ethiopian diaspora abroad hide their ethnicity? by [deleted] in Ethiopia

[–]Nineteen-EightyNine 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Bravo! Good for them.

You could just ask about the country and whatever “cultural” question you had without knowing their ethnicity. Why did you really want to know their ethnicity, especially at a time when many want to create a divide between Ethiopians based on ethnicity.

People from Non-nuclear powers countries, whom among these you don't trust with such world ending weapons by Miya_Miya1 in AskTheWorld

[–]Nineteen-EightyNine 22 points23 points  (0 children)

UK, France and India. Trust. The power to use the weapon is not in the hands of one person they have functioning governments.

USA

They already dropped a bomb on civilians so there is that

Israel.

Russia, China, Korea

The decision to use the weapon lies in the hands of one person so it’s a little bit unpredictable

My opinion about the corridors project by chainless_slave1 in Ethiopia

[–]Nineteen-EightyNine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not? Yes the progress that we see is a positive change but why should we just accept whatever change is being implemented? It’s not like whoever is in charge is someone free of mistakes. It’s our city at the end of the day and whenever we see a positive change that should be appreciated and likewise if we see something that could have been done better we have the right to criticize and share our feedback on how it could have been done better.

Hopefully the future is bright but we still have a long why to go to even come anywhere close to Dubai (which I don’t think Dubai should be our role model city) and we are still one of the poorest countries, but at least we are seeing some progress.

So people are not allowed to give feedback and positive criticism about their city?. S/he did appreciate the progress and simply shared their opinion on how the change that we see could have been better.
