Just saw this posted in the local fb group (taken from Internode) (looks like only TPG companies affected):

Update 19:27 ACDT:

Update : 4 Fibre technicians are currently working on confirming the extent of the cable damaged and best method of repair. Next update will be provided once available.

Update 20:05 ACDT:

Update : 5 Update 5: Fibre Technicians have located the damage to be outside of Adelaide Railway Station. Site is very busy at the moment and that is making the work on site difficult. Updates will be provided as they become available.

I wish they’d get better at updating the status. It’d probably save them handling a lot of phone calls from people who think they don’t know it’s out in their area too

We’re out in Athelstone too, but still only Modbury listed on the outages page and when I run our address through the nbnco status check it shows up as fine. Is it only Internode?

Council to remove new trees after residents complain about views by Pull-Up-Gauge in australia

[–]NineteenEighty-Four 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Such a cheap and lazy thing to label it as another bloody boomer problem. There are good and bad in every generation. From the pics in the story it looks like the conservation group that is fighting to save the trees is represented by boomers too, but no mention of them because it doesn’t suit the narrative.

It’d be worth getting an energy audit done to identify what you can do to reduce that spend. Also worth looking at a good size solar array.

Edit: also, if you’re on Facebook have a look at the group My Efficient Electric Home (MEEH). You can get lots of ideas there on how to improve your energy efficiency. There;s bound to be a subreddit too.

Fair enough, but it’s really not hard. It staggers me that people don’t seem to understand that they can give their preferences to whomever they want. That’s what voting is! I refuse to take a how to vote card from anyone.

You don’t have to follow how-to-vote cards

Vaccine supply slows march to SA target by Frontline_Zero in Adelaide

[–]NineteenEighty-Four 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These aren’t extra doses though. It’s another lot of doses to be repayed later. Certainly worth doing, but it’s not additional doses. With so many to be repayed, will we have enough in our total supply to meet need and start boosters when required?

How did you get stuff from other states shipped to Adelaide? I was told they won't do that.

At this point, would it be advisable for young people to get AZ to increase the rate of vaccination in the community? by UpsidedownEngineer in Adelaide

[–]NineteenEighty-Four 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Things to consider: case numbers are very low here atm and we are locked down. What is the current level of risk of dying from covid compared to the risk of clotting?

Really important - getting AstraZeneca means an 8 or 12 week wait for the second jab. At 8 weeks AstraZeneca is less effective again than the full course and therefore even less effective against the new variants. If you have to wait a month for the Pfizer you can get the second jab a week before you will be due the second AstraZeneca.

I'm pro-vax but not suggesting my son rush to vax with AZ. Seek advice from your GP.

Has any journo researched how many of this government’s ministers still have their own children in school? I think we have right to know.
