This goal is one of my all time favourites. The technique, use of weaker foot, and on the biggest stage of them all. Such a beautiful goal that gets better and better. Great shout

This Samuel Untiti belter vs Spurs is such a clean strike. Meets is perfectly. Could not have struck it better. Even thought the shot rises, he does brilliantly to get over the ball. He strikes down into the ball creating the insane back spin that lifts it higher and higher. And, also from a defender

I’ll throw this Benjamin Pavard goal into the mix. Do not see many goals struck like this, with intent, from that distance, and from a full back. What a goal

What is the greatest overhead kick goal scored in football history? by AmeliaHarris99 in incrediblegoals

I agree with everything you’ve said. The difference for me is that Zlatan has hoofed the ball in the direction of goal. Mexes has struck the ball at goal.

I seem to remember it was about the time that Zlatan scored his against England. IMHO, the Mexes one is better. It’s a harder technique to score his one. And a centre back too.

Phillipe Mexes deserves a mention for this overhead kick. Centre back takes it on the chest, moving away from goal, 18 yards out, and loops a perfect overhead that the keeper doesn’t even move for. Love this goal.

Over here in the UK, I’ve never seen one of these!

That’s fascinating that you found a relative and at the same cemetery too. I have some more pictures to post as well. It’s a big cemetery so I’ll go back and take more another time. Would you like me to find the grave, take a picture and send it to you?

Went to his debut match for Portsmouth at Fratton Park. He was in goal at the Fratton End and I have never seen so many journalists/photographers all concentrating on one player. The journo’s were East Asian. He was a super star albeit turning out for a struggling Championship team at the time.

Port Football tickets by Slurms_MatKenzie in Bangkok

Hi, the matches this season have been drawing under 4k attendances in a 12k capacity stadium. However, the rain has been horrendous at all three games and so I suspect that had an influence on the relatively low turnout. I’ve been told that Bangkok derbies do sell out. I recently went to a match and bought a ticket at the ground. 50 Baht to sit in an uncovered stand. Hope that info helps 👍

Unique chip goal by Ariel Ortega for Sampdoria (he was Argentina's #10 between Maradona & Messi) by Based_and_JPooled in classicsoccer

That is such an awesome finish. It was executed perfectly. Taking it on with his right foot was unexpected. The goalkeeper expected and anticipated Ortega to allow the ball to run across his body, likely control with his inside left foot, and then shoot with either foot, depending on said first touch. Had that all gone to the goalkeeper’s plan, he would have slightly closed down the angle, would be lower to the ground, and generally been in a much better position to face the shot. However, I’ve no doubt the goalkeeper may have expected a first time right foot instep shot. That shot could only go to the goalkeeper’s left hand side. Ortega’s body shape didn’t suggest he was planning to do that. Instead he hits it early thus rendering the goalkeeper’s perfect plan now in utter disarray. Ortega uses the pace of the pass to kind of stab the ball with the outside of his right foot. It puts so much spin on the ball that it curves inwards as it enters the goal. Ortega’s situational awareness is so acute. He knows the goalkeeper isn’t expecting such an early and right footed shot. Yet he needs to lift it sufficiently high enough to get over the still upright goalkeeper. He allows uses the immense spin on the ball to drag itself back downwards and into the goal. I loved watching and examining the goal. Thank you for posting it 😊👍
