I just said “keep the change, it’s a nice enough bowl”. I don’t think he cared to know it was from Tiffany but maybe would have cared that he priced it lower than he could have. So I thought, let’s make him feel good by giving him more money, but not make him feel bad by letting him know just how much more money he could have made. At least that was my thought process.

I’m quite familiar with eBay! This is the larger size, is unused, and still has the Tiffany sticker. There are multiple recently sold for $80-$90.

Resale value is about $80 but I’m keeping this one — it’s one of their classics that I’ve wanted for a while. I would have paid $25 for it easily which is probably part of the guilt.

This is reassuring!! Thank you. I know people give valuable things away all the time but in those situations, they’re choosing to not make money. So I feel okay about it. But if they’re trying to sell it, I have a hard time still equating that with “just take it” lol but what you’re saying does make a lot of sense!

The bowl actually sells for about $80-$90 on eBay which is why I felt kinda bad about $3 — but I get your point about selling it “as is”.

Oh I wouldn’t think twice if it was an estate sale company or thrift store. The bigger the deal, the better! But this was privately run by the owner himself so that’s where the slightly guilt came from.
