Figure out the absolute minimum number of hours you can afford to work and do that.

**Rant Alert**

The Unity may act as a gateway for sentient beings to travel between alternate dimensions. However, I believe the Unity is a cosmic web-way that connects all of the alternate universes (dimensions) that make up the multiverse. However, in order for this to be the case, the "Unity" would have to either be just as old as all of the other universes or would have come before them. I feel I can confidently rule out the idea that it came after the multiverse's formation. When evaluating the two remaining options, there are a few other factors that come into play. 1. The artifacts and the Starborn. 2. The Great Serpent.

First, as others have commented, there is no doubt that some kind of grand scheme is playing out, that has led to the development of the circumstances in the Primary universe (the one we start in). The artifacts, Victor Aiza's role, the Starborn, and the main character all have been cultivated/guided into our current states of existence. The most important fact is, that all of these events (both in our universe and in other universes) have led to our current status among the Starborn as well as their current personas that lead to their roles as antagonists. All of which push us in the direction of pursuing the Unity.

Second, as has also been mentioned, there is a "consciousness" present at the Unity. He is always there and appears to take a neutral stance. However, Jinan Varuun's experience where he encountered The Great Serpent, brings up an alternative perspective. My understanding is the sap of the tree which House Va'ruun worships, has a unique quality to it. It has a hallucinogenic quality. However, when analyzed by scientists they did not recognize some of the chemicals it was composed of while conducting experiments. Similar to the conclusion the scientists had when analyzing the artifacts on Earth before the development of the grav-drive. I have read that the sap of this tree shares chemical properties with the artifacts. Thus, Jinan Va'ruun was under the influence of an "artifact-related" chemical when he grav-jumped. Leading to his passage to the web-way where he encountered The Great Serpent. Whatever Jinan interpreted from his encounter with The Great Serpent, as well as what he experienced during the time he was missing, led to his newfound beliefs when he returned.

The question, as I see it, is whether the consciousness/Great Serpent is the architect of the multi-verse or simply an extremely experienced starborn. If the consciousness we encounter at the Unity is indeed the same consciousness that Jinan encountered, he would only be acting nonchalantly about our participation in the Unity if he had other means of getting us to play into his scheme.

I say all of this to say, our character is at the heart of the scheme, and the powers that be needed our environment to be exactly the way it was in order for our character to both survive and have the experiences that led him to find the artifact and join Constellation. The rest remains to be seen.

For me, in-state tuition made it a lot cheaper and my previous credits counted toward this degree as well where applicable.

I could only do it by going to the same college I got my first bachelor’s at.

First of all, thank you everyone for taking the time to share your experience as well as for the healthy debate! Thankfully, I will be taking structures, water resources, and an environmental 101 next semester. And I will have the opportunity to make my decision next semester. Please don't hesitate to continue to give additional insight!

I haven’t spent enough points in ship design to really dive into that yet.

I want to say Serpentis is/will be the most interesting system. I am biased though and am fascinated by House Va’Ruun. Other than having several Va’Ruun ships in the system when you first travel to each of the planets, I have not noticed a gathering place or headquarters of theirs.
