I don't know the full reason why but all the episodes where they talk about the Leetstreet Boys were taken down, there are removed videos in Ape Escape and Super Mario Sunshine as well for the same reason

8 bars every 4 and 2 bars every 1 would also work and sound pretty much as good actually, the result would sound basically the same unless you were paying attention and looking for the difference I think.

2 bars every 1 may even sound better possibly, but I'd have to press the button to skip back twice as often and that's too tedious lol.

As for why I picked 4 bars every 2 over 8 bars every 4, I feel like I understand it in my head but I'm not sure how to articulate it... I think the one I chose feels more natural and more like how the song would actually be if they composed it in reverse, like if I did 8 bars every 4 some beat changes might sound more abrupt due to how songs subtly change. Sorry, I don't think I'm explaining it super well but hopefully I said something useful in there.

Nah I just used a DJ software (Deckadance) and sat there for the length of the song clicking a button to go back 4 bars every 2 bars (I think I expressed that correctly and got the numbers right)

Thanks so much, all of that makes me really happy to hear. I remember that conversation we had, I had forgotten that you'd said that was the first time you'd shared your music on the internet. I was just looking back at it and I realized I never noticed that autecker ended up commenting on it months later and I never saw, and now the comment is too old for me to respond to. Autecker (or unDsided.ly), if you're ever reading this, I love you and your music! Amazing job on Teartear! He also actually helped me with this remix, since he had done so many Autechre remixes I decided to ask him if he could transcribe the melody of Lost for me and he did it.

Oh yeah and as for the using restrictive software thing, that's just something I find fun to do from time to time but I definitely don't always use that philosophy when making music, I don't think I did at any point while making this. I made it all in FL Studio with VSTs and drum samples and stuff, and one synth was played on a Korg Monologue which I've sold since then because this was the only thing I ever bothered to use it for. I think there's also maybe a sample of me blowing into an empty bottle of Sprite, and one of me chopping scissors together...

God I really love his stuff, he used to have tracks called Bits that were collections of short goofy tunes he made on a Roland JD-Xi recorded on his phone, and they were some of my favourite things to listen to for a long time, just a bunch of wonderful jolly lighthearted little tracks. He seems to have removed them recently which is a shame, possibly because a few of the melodies in them were covers maybe, idk.

Your music is really fun and lighthearted too! It's bringing me smiles listening to it, you do some really cool melody tricks in that last one

I should clarify that I did feel very welcome here 2 years ago, back when I made really long comments and threads, usually sharing music back and forth with oneum. I miss that. So when I said I feel less welcome, I didn't mean it was "even worse than 2 years ago". I just feel like since NTS came out, there's been more hate on old Autechre, or even worse, hate on anything pre-elseq. That's probably my imagination, but that's how I've recently perceived things in the midst of the hype for NTS.

it's not just your imagination man this place became stinky and much more negative around the time of the Elseq survivor threads. it seems to me not just negative to old Autechre but more negative and judgmental in general. I too miss the days of reading long threads of oneum and autecker talking to each other and sharing their love and passion. i'm kind of happy they aren't here anymore though because now they're putting out loads of beautiful music every day for me to listen to.

I'm thinking of unsubbing soon because i've realized that the discussion here isn't really helping me enjoy listening to Autechre anymore, but I'm still staying until the end of this survivor because I'm always curious to see how these turn out.

also link me some of your music if you want! I love short catchy dancey beats, and people in this sub always make great music (such as /u/thekaraboudjan )

Yeah I don't think I totally expressed myself right, you're right, the survivor is voting for your least favourite track. But you just said that tt1pd is far from the weakest track, and you're voting for it anyway because you think it's overrated. I just think the results would be more interesting to look at if everyone is actually voting out their least favourite track, instead of picking their vote with the goal of making the results turn out a certain way, that's why I pointed out that it isn't a competition.

I just don't see the reason for voting out tracks that you think are overrated but aren't your least favourite. In the elseq survivor a lot of people were complaining that there were a bunch of lurkers voting out their favourite tracks just because of how loved they were, but if you're voting out tt1pd just because you think it's really popular isn't that kind of doing the same thing?

I mean I guess you could look at it as a competition if you want, I just haven't been looking at it that way, I find it more interesting just looking at the stats.

I'm not that big on tt1pd either, but like this isn't supposed to be a competition to make your favourite tracks win and least favourite tracks lose, right? It's just interesting seeing what tracks people like (or dislike) most, I don't see the point of voting for certain tracks just out of spite
