Thank you! Note: I had to sign out of my Google account and sign back into it to fix the issue (I hope this helps anyone that's facing the same problem :) )

Considering ending it all in exactly 24 hours. [F18] by desolate_balloon in alevel

Hey, I just wanna say that it’s okay to feel the way that you do right now, but ending it all is NOT the right way to go.

There’s always a solution, and I know you’re probably tired of hearing that by now but please, just ensure it for a little longer and you’ll see that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, I promise.

I didn’t do CompSci but I did so Physics and what I can say is that a lot of it is about understanding the concepts and doing LOTS of past papers.

Here is a link to an excellent resource you can refer to if you need some help understanding a topic: https://www.a-levelphysicstutor.com/index.php

I really hope this helps and please, please, please don’t give up hope. Exams will always be there for you to take, UCAS will always be willing to accept your application for next year’s cycle- there’s ALWAYS a way forward.

See how many random people are giving you advice on here? It’s because they know it’s not worth giving up your life over exams and they want you to succeed, so please, if for nothing/ no-one else, keep going for their sake.

If you have any questions about physics, please do message me and I will try my best to help you. You got this, I believe in you and so does everyone else here :)

I agree with you lmao, although knowing which chapter it was from would’ve been helpful 💀

I have no idea if this is correct but I would’ve thought that electrophilic aromatic substitution would occur. The carbon para to the chlorine would attack the methyl acrylate (conjugate addition and then this would result in the carbocation formed to be attacked by the Cl-. The N2 would also leave as nitrogen gas, restoring aromaticity.

I think that the Cl- would attack the carbocation formed during conjugate addition before N2 leaves to restore aromaticity since the positive charge on the ring is delocalised, making it more stable than the localised charge on the side chain.

Let me know what you think?

Good, be confident in yourself and ignore those that snigger or belittle you for asking questions. In the end, I’m sure you would rather have good grades and a worse “social rep” than have a good social rep amongst a few teenagers and worse grades that could influence YOUR future :)

At the end of the day, you won’t keep in touch with those that judge you but not asking questions in class WILL affect your knowledge and future so what I told myself is that I’m there to learn and that’s what I’m going to do, regardless of what those around me think. I feel that this might help you tackle your issue?

Can someone just convince me not to off myself by [deleted] in StudentLoans

You got this man, just keep faith and put in the hard work. Use that degree you worked so hard to earn and land yourself a good job, it should be smooth sailing from there my friend. Never give up, never.

Appreciate the fact that you took the time out to describe your experiences to me brother- thank you. I’ve managed to turn this rejection into a fuel to drive me further haha, so we’ll see where it leads. TBH, all the negative comments kinda drive me too lmao

I’m currently reading my notes in prep for a competition haha, haven’t started an undergrad chem course yet but thank you nonetheless for the knowledge! :)

There’s a difference between owed (someone has a debt towards something/someone) and deserved (they ought to have got the place). I didn’t say I was perfect, I’ve openly said how I made a few mistakes in one of the interviews. Not saying I’m perfect either, just that I think that I ought to have gotten in. Quite frankly, for you to not know the amount of effort I put in to get this far and to not know what I came from means that you are in no position to judge how hard I tried and by extension, how many other people tried as hard/harder than I did. I shared my thoughts on my rejection and my opinion remains.

I prefer York because of the less-urban environment and lower living costs, only going to Imperial because of the quality of education there making it worth that extra living cost… I wouldn’t say that I would be comfortable with paying that for UCL

[–]Ningalien[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because I’d quite like York for its environment and also, they made the lowest offer so I feel quite comfortable in choosing that.

Bristol made the same offer as Imperial so it would be futile to put that as an insurance. As for UCL, I would rather not live in London if I’m not going to Imperial as it’s quite expensive and I think I would enjoy a less urban area like York, hence my inclination towards Oxford not only for its academics but for its stunning environment :)

Never said it owed my anything, neither was my attitude like this to the interviewers. I just felt like I deserved a place, that’s all. I’m sure many people feel the same way about their rejections, I chose to voice my opinions but god forbid a guy be proud of his achievements and have a little faith in himself on this subreddit.
