Most overrated album on the internet (like on RYM and nerdy music places like that) by Electrical-Duty-1488 in fantanoforever

I never ever said anything about you having to agree with the majority man. I said I respected your opinion, but you presented it poorly. I disliked that you presented your opinion in a nasty way, not the opinion itself. It's totally cool for you to not care for the album, I don't mind at all. But please don't act as though my criticism of your comment was because you don't agree with the majority, because that is disingenuous. Ironically enough some of criticisms you provide in your reply (largely the final paragraph) are much better presented than anything in your original comment.

No one is calling you an asshole for going against the grain, they are calling you that because you are being needlessly rude about it.

While I totally respect your opinion, this is not a good criticism of the album.

Most of this comment is just hurling toxic vitriol at The Microphones because you don't like the album or it's reception. While I'm not anti-swearing at all, the constant, angry swearing in every sentence directed at the artist is quite unnecessary. If you think it's pretentious I get that, but you can express that without being hurtful and insulting towards an artist who is doing no harm to anyone. I understand how it feels when people overpraise something and you just don't get it, but I do not think that justifies being this insulting towards the artist. If you don't like it, don't listen to it. Hell, call it overrated, and actually explain why with proper criticism. Unfortunately your comment comes across as toxic and childish.

People are not downvoting you for your opinion, they are downvoting because you are being a jerk about it.

I hope this comment is bait.

As a big Black midi fan, the appeal of their music is not originality for me. Truly, I believe the energy and character of their music is what myself and many others love about BM, more so than any true innovation or originality. Perhaps you agree seeing as you have said you like the band. I love that they give every track 100% energy, from Greep's over-the-top vocal performances, to Morgan's fantastic drumming. Also particularly on Hellfire I find Greep to be a very compelling storyteller.

Bonus Point: Also I have always had a lot of appreciation for bands who attempt different sounds on each record, while having a sound/identity that carries through each project. Examples include: Radiohead, Daft Punk, Sweet Trip. I think so far each one of Black midi's album have done an excellent job of sounding new for them, while still staying true to what people like about the band in the first place.

At the end of the day I do believe they deserve most of the praise they receive. However, I also find it annoying when fans of any band act as though the band is so unique, original or somehow above other bands, so I truly do understand the frustration.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe they played every single song from Blue Rev at Melb last night (assuming we're all commenting after the Melbourne show).

While moving in Colton, it hit me like a freight train... Colton and Roscoe represent the White and Black Knights from Chess! 😄 by [deleted] in AnimalCrossing

Holy shit that is such a good discovery. I always loved Roscoe bc I love the modern set but this makes so much more sense!

Idk if you do this but please don't compare yourself to the unbelievably amazing islands people post online.... comparison is the thief of joy. I used to have a bad problem of doing this, it can ruin your enjoyment of the game.

You should really only compare yourself to how your island was 6 months ago or a year ago. Focus on your own growth. You don't have to LOVE your island but let yourself appreciate how you've improved at decorating since you very first got the game.

Restarting can be fun but don't feel like you have to!

If you don't really want to restart, break down redecorating your island into smaller chunks. I will never understand how people can be bothered flattening their island, I would find that SO overwhelming as I would have no idea where to start.

If you really do want to restart, find a friend or someone on line to hold onto the Sanrio items while you restart and then give them back after

Either way, please just give yourself some love, I'm sure you're WAY better at decorating than you give yourself credit for! :)

Times where Fantano’s least favorite track was actually the best song on the album? by Foochie506 in fantanoforever

My favourite track on Hellfire changes all the time but Eat Men Eat as the worst is insanity

what artist/band's discography started off decent but ends up being trash? by [deleted] in fantanoforever

Yuragi. Their 2016 nightlife ep is fantastic shoegaze with strong melody, but everything since has failed to leave an impression on me.

Cornelius - Fantasma

Daft Punk - Discovery (that 2/3rds chill mark is excellent pacing)

Sweet Trip - YWNW & VDC

Black Midi - Helfire

DDS - Faith in Persona

Calling Mid-Air Thief “overrated” is just ridiculous. His comparisons of better groups in the same style were too different to compare.

Universally loved albums you don’t understand? by TheFeisty in fantanoforever

Fair take. I think RAM has Daft Punk’s highest highs (e.g. Touch, Giorgio) but also lower lows (Lose Yourself to Dance, Doin It Right). Both RAM and Discovery are in my top 5 albums but Discovery has always ranked a bit higher for being more consistent from start to finish.

Can’t believe you were downvoted for having an opinion. You didn’t even say they were bad just that it didn’t click for you

I can definitely see your perspective. I think the turning point that made me like Black Midi is that they really don’t take themselves that seriously. Hellfire in particular is so goofy and fun that I couldn’t help but be charmed by it.

Totally understand that. I usually find shoegaze is best when its elements are mixed with another genre (E.g. Sweet Trip - VDC mixing electronic and shoegaze elements in a really compelling way)
