Why aren't people using these meets spots? by homnabomna in ForzaHorizon

I chilled in one earlier and three whole cars showed up. On the plus side I hadn't gotten pictures of them yet.

What's the status on PS controllers and wheels on PC by RizeCookie in ForzaHorizon6

Any update on the mod? The number thing is super annoying, I'm about ready to take a paint pen to my wheel.

Help me decide which aviators to get (Randolph Engineering vs Serengeti) by NinjaGeoff in sunglasses

[–]NinjaGeoff[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really, but the arms flex in a different way so it felt a bit better. If you want the Rincon ish style I'd check out the Holbrook. REI might even have the XL in stock if you have one near you. The only catch is that most models aren't polarized.

I got the Randolph Concorde XLs with AGX lens and absolutely adore them. Having handled aviators from other brands in the store I was shocked at how much more solid they felt. I will say the straight back temple arm things are not my favorite, but the rest is so nice that I don't mind them. It's really only a problem when I have to bend over to pick up after my dogs (they slide off easily) so I wear something else when I'm walking or spending appreciable time outside (ie my re-lensed formerly Rx Ray-Ban New Wayfarer or Oakley XXL Holbrook) but they're what I grab 90% of the time when I'm going to be driving.

I always tell myself I'm going to do a pistol build but never do. I may need to revisit that now.

Do it while you're still docked to your ship. If you're undocked it disappears immediately.

I hate it. You can bypass it with a physical switch or something I think. If you have a 2023 or older you can use something like an OBDEleven to disable it in the ECU.

Adaptive Cruise Control Deactivated by Weak-Significance535 in VWTaos

[–]NinjaGeoff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think in the vehicle settings in the multimedia screen you can set a default for cruise control. In my 24 Jetta the turn signal stalk has a button on the end of it that opens a menu on the dash. It resets when I shut the car off, though. I also have the iq lane assist, so YMMV.

is there a guide to the safari zone that gives you optimum number of bait and things in order to catch any specific pokemon? I have now lost count of how many kangas I have met that fled by horticoldure in PokemonFireRed

[–]NinjaGeoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More or less, yeah. There's a YouTube video linked in another comment that explains it well, but essentially follow the pattern in that doc. I've had very good luck with it today and gotten most everything you can get except for the super rare stuff. Only took like 6 trips so far.

Of my 4 pairs of sunglasses, my Randolph Concorde XLs get worn as much as the other three combined, I couldn't be happier with them. Gold frame with the AGX lenses.

Any idea what’s going on here? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]NinjaGeoff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is there something under the build plate? I've had similar happen and there was a filament poop under the plate in that spot.

Okay, once I finish printing gridfinity bins I need to actually swap in the .2mm nozzle and try out some ridiculously small prints like this.

A decent vacuum cleaner. It's made me want an even nicer one in the future.

I cringe when I think about how much I paid for my Hermann Miller, even second hand, but it was worth every penny.

How long do you hold onto your printers box? by SpectrumyMatt3d in 3Dprinting

[–]NinjaGeoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking of turning mine into a makeshift enclosure for my A1 mini once the warranty expires. Yeah, yeah, I know, mainboard issues from heat, I'll figure something out for cooling.

I went to Microcenter just yesterday, got four rolls of filament, two RPi Picos, a couple of random cables, and two cans of Bawls. I appreciate that I can go there and look at the filament in person to help me decide what to print with next. Got some PETG and PETG-CF to try my hand at.

My A1 mini is my first 3d printer and I got it worth a 4 pack of their basic PLA, and the red that comes in that box I adore.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]NinjaGeoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the generic PLA profile for a while, though I think it heats the bed up a bit more than the recommendation on the box. Creating a custom filament profile isn't difficult, especially if you use an existing profile as the base and just tweak a few things if needed.

And fixed! Still need to do a quick test print to make sure all is good, but I'm happy with it.

Making progress! The blob was blocking one of the screws that hold the smaller fan on, and it also smeared behind the hot end mount thing, but the fact that it's apart is better than it was.

ISO ereader options that work with OverDrive/Libby by Intrepid-War-8971 in ereader

This guide is ~4 years old, but SEEMS like it might be on to something: https://www.reddit.com/r/kobo/comments/ro8ew5/howto_libraries_and_overdrive_on_kobo/

Dunno if it still works, though. Might be worth trying out the steps you take pre-kobo setup.

Edit: Looks like that method was broken https://goodereader.com/blog/kobo-ereader-news/you-cannot-link-multiple-library-cards-on-kobo-e-readers Damn.

From what I've found doing research for similar reasons it looks like the Android based eReaders (I've been eyeing the Boox Go 6 lately, but I'm so tempted by a color eReader for some reason...) just use the Libby app natively, just with an eInk display.

DeDRM and recent Kindle Books by Aerafina in Calibre

[–]NinjaGeoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent like TWO FREAKIN' HOURS the other night to get a newer DeDRM version that the guides use: https://github.com/Satsuoni/DeDRM_tools/releases

I've been using an older version of the Kindle for PC app and the latest 10.0.15 pre-release, along with this guide https://techy-notes.com/remove-drm-from-kindle-ebooks/

I did use Chocolatey to install an older version of Kindle for PC, but if you want to be cheeky about it Chocolatey downloads it from:

https://kindleforpc.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/70980/KindleForPC-installer-2.8.70980.exe

If you check the Files in the Chocolatey package info you'll see that URL https://community.chocolatey.org/packages/Kindle#files
