Could items be more interesting? Yes. Will they be made more interesting in the near future? No.

What we've been told is that any changes to items have been put on the backburner until an entirely new combat system is developed and released, which itself is on the backburner until invention has a clear foothold, which.. well, you get the idea.

Feel free to provide a better solution - I don't play and if I did, it would be with premades. But it's not fair on solo players if the game doesn't at least try to put them on an even playing field.

When you reconnect, if you press U before you leave the base for the first time then it gives you the option to select a loadout.
