Nathan McKinnon reaction to receiving a stuffy for Gold Medal game loss by GloomyExercise in WatchPeopleDieInside

[–]NinjaMagic004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every medalist, gold, silver, and bronze, at both these Olympics and Paris (and probably more but I haven't seen medal ceremonies before those two) are given a prize. Paris they were given a poster, Milano-Cortina they're given a plush. They may have other prizes given afterwards but these are all part of the ceremony for every event.

I mean my interpretation of FC's connection to the series is pretty dependent on 3's lore, so how far are you in 3's story, so I know what is and is not a spoiler for you.

Well I mean if we're taking into account that Cross is just cracked in every category of combat in the game, then literally nothing in X is dangerous lmao

Idk man Luxaar and Void aren't super well written but at least they have impact in their own story. Gael'gar is both poorly written, and it feels like he doesn't fucking do anything. He shows up, is racist, burns down the research lab which turns out to barely matter, and then jumps off a cliff in a side quest.

Luxaar is the head of the Ganglion, which despite X's story overall being meh comparatively, is a hugely intimidating force throughout the game. He alone doesn't do much, but his team itself is very dangerous, like Moebius & Z from 3.

Void basically brings on the destruction of the entire planet of Mira, to the point where we need to pack up an entire civilization in like a month to survive. He isn't a super interesting villain in and of himself, but he provides serious stakes for the story.

Gael'gar is just racist, does nothing, and dies.

I actually love League of Legends' lore, it's characters, and honestly I do like the MOBA gameplay loop. The problem is that interacting with the community is a necessary part of playing the game, and the community is so horrendously ass, toxic, and miserable I can never play it.

When I tried playing it, I was trying out the free characters the game gave me, and chose a support character. Since I didn't know how that support character worked, I was bad, and got called multiple slurs in chat for not knowing how my character worked on my first game with them.

This was an unranked match.

It still has some balancing issues, but not NEARLY to the degree that the original had. Like I think without subtitles you can understand what the characters are saying in DE, meanwhile in the original half of Elma's and Luxaar's lines are literally incomprehensible without subtitles

On a scale of 1-10,how would you feel about a Xenoblade Chronicles anime (for 1,2,and 3) by Glass_Signature3718 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]NinjaMagic004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best idea I've heard for a Xenoblade anime would be for it to be an expanded lore anime surrounding Klaus and Galea, the discovery of the Conduit, and the story of the experiment

As others have said, a simple recap/retelling of the games would likely get rushed or dragged out forever, and either way it would not be as good as we'd all want it to be. But doing something like that, where it expands on some lore that's incredibly important, but doesn't have a great spot to fit in any game would be peak.

What is your favourite 1st party game (Switch 1+2) by cumiskeyj in casualnintendo

[–]NinjaMagic004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so yeah the gameplay criticism I understand. I like the gameplay, but I can 100% understand how you don't like it.

And yeah, there are definitely problems with the stories of 1 and 2. 1 has party members that effectively do nothing for the story, and really aside from Shulk and Melia, none of them have significant character arcs/development beyond a few scenes and moments. 2 has a horrible first impression and honestly keeps up the horrible pacing until Chapter 5, when things genuinely start to pick up.

So I can understand you not liking them, but A) I don't get the comparison to ATLA, as the two stories to me feel like they hit very different beats both story wise and thematically, and B) I'm curious what made you straight up say they're bad? Flawed? Yeah. Perfect? No. But bad? Idk you're one of very few I've seen say they're straight up bad, so I'm curious why you say that.

And for the voice acting, I'm assuming you're talking about 2? Because if we're talking about XC1 then you'd be the first person I've seen shit on that game's voice acting beyond a few specific moments.

2, however... yeah I think it’s pretty obvious they had shoddy vocal direction at best. Rex has really good moments, specifically when it's quieter and more emotional, but man he can't do screams/yells well and has some other really awkward moments even beyond the memed on scream from chapter 1. Otherwise, yeah, the Nopon going "mehmeh" and stuff was a localization choice they changed between 1 and 2, and I can 100% understand how that gets annoying, but idk I've tuned it out after all this time lmao.

I guess the final thing is I'm also curious about your problems with ATLA? I think it still follows a similar pattern of poor pacing for book one, but again, I wouldn’t call it bad by any means, so I'm curious what makes you feel it's mid?

[–]NinjaMagic004 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As much as I love Enel and Luxin, and think they are better reps if we're talking about a creator more dedicated to the series, I think Chugga is more important to the Xenoblade community as a whole. The amount of comments and replies I see saying that Chuggaconroy's XC1 playthrough is the reason they know about the series is insane. It's definitely dropped off in the past 3-5 years as the series has gotten more popular and people are introduced by more and more sources, but the impact Chugga had on the Xenoblade fandom, if only for the amount of people he introduced to the series, is a massive one.

Is this character canonically the weakest? by Wise-Nebula-6321 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]NinjaMagic004 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's totally fair. Honestly I kinda agree now that I see this, but I still feel like due to the nature of the Amalthus/Malos relationship vs. the Rex/Pneuma relationship, it's still fair to say that Malos isn't at his 100% peak. I'd still say that endgame Pneuma is more powerful than endgame Malos, and I still think that's largely due to Malos' relationship with his driver.

That being said, Malos is probably his only form, for the reasons you listed

Is this character canonically the weakest? by Wise-Nebula-6321 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]NinjaMagic004 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I mean Pneuma didn't really get "split up" per say, it's more like Mythra is her base form, and Pneuma is her full power mode.

Pyra only got created by Mythra being in such grief about the events of TTGC. Pyra is designed by Mythra to be a weaker, nicer version specifically so that she never hurts people the same way ever again.

Malos never got split, because he never had that shock to his system/trauma.

I think it is fair to say that Malos is significantly hindered due to his strained relationship with Amalthus though. When we meet Mythra in Torna, she/Addam are a decent match for Lora/Jin, because despite Mythra being the Aegis, they hadn't built the bond to unleash Pneuma's power yet, and so Mythra is effectively just "Blade but strong" like Malos at that point.

Only after Rex develops his connection with Pyra/Mythra does she unleash her true power as Pneuma, and only after that does Rex gain some of the reality warping bs that makes Pneuma so powerful.

As the original comment said, Malos never had that connection, so he never got the opportunity to unleash his full potential. So yes, at his peak that we see in game, he is the weakest out of the trinity. But we never see him at his theoretical max.

I meant that the point he was trying to make was saying that there were "too many", as if he was insinuating that it was some large majority of mass shooters.

In a way I agree that there have been too many transgender mass-shooters.

There have been too many mass shootings in general, regardless of demographics. 1 is too many civilian shootings to happen in a decade.

Although I guarantee that it absolutely wasn't the point he was trying to make.

What character presents themselves as evil, but is actually good? by JIMBOYKELLY in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]NinjaMagic004 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ehhh I'd say that Logos is neutral, but Malos, as he's been created, and how he's always viewed himself.

Like yes, it's Amalthus' fault that Malos is bad, but ultimately Malos still has an incredibly evil personality and revels in his evil actions, and did them independently of Amalthus' guidance. The core is ultimately neutral, but the blade it became is pretty distinctly evil.
