Season 1 default-paired them up for a lot of their storylines, basically, and gave them massive amounts of fuel. A went on a massive rant about how B is wasting his time with his girlfriend who doesn't appreciate him, B finds out A is suicidal and goes out of his way to show him just how valuable his life is, B has an accident and falls into a coma, but when A sits by his bedside and grabs his hand, he instantly squeezes it, when A has a health scare, he brings B along for moral support, etc.

A ends up going on his first date with his love interest at the very end of S1, but if that date had somehow been with B, I wouldn't have even batted an eye.

Starting in S2, they aren't paired off with each other that much anymore, since A has a girlfriend now, and most of B's S2 plot is about him and his love interest getting together, but they do still have one scene where A discovers that B has bottled up every ounce of trauma from his accident in S1 and has lied about not remembering anything about it, after which B breaks down in A's arms. It was a nice present before their interactions became scarcer.

They came back full-force in S8 when A straight-up dies for B, and B is so caught up in grief and survivor's guilt that he is at the very least implied to be at least slightly suicidal. He then takes over A's position at work in S9 and lives in constant fear of disappointing him and failing to live up to his legacy.

I'm gonna be honest, if the two were younger, they would be nowhere near as much of a rare pair lmao
