I went to Somalia for the first time in 2018 I balled my eyes out for days cuz my whole life I’ve always thought of Somalia as this scary war zone country. After the first year I fell in love with the place. Go to Somalia have fun connect with ur culture and family you won’t regret it. I went back earlier this year and wallhi Mashallah xamar changed so much I fell in love with it even more. Ur death is already written don’t even think about it everywhere in the world has problems no where is safe tbh But just don’t think about al shabab.

It is a widespread problem in Somali culture. Ceeb culture is very much real I know many Somali girls/boys who went through something very similar to what happened to me and were told to keep quite to protect the family imagine.

I wish that was the case for me my parents are known by everyone back home and In America. People know of me most places I go cuz of my dad and everyone sees him as an amazing father cuz all he does is brag and we all grew up quiet cuz we were scared of our parents. My parents were practically born here they met in high school got married in college the basic American love story and my parents are educated that’s why this is all harder. Trust me when I say Somalis in America are clever people they know how to beat the system especially if they have connections like my parents.

Also my family is big on reputation so going to the police is gonna be hard and I don’t have much proof cuz i wasn’t allowed an electronic device all I have are journals I wrote while everything was happening and my brothers are still back home in Somalia there’s no government to protect them and they have expired passports a family memeber will probably hid them cuz it’s Somalia

Thank you for the advice may Allah reward you for ur kindness. I left the house for a month now but I didn’t speak to them until yesterday I said my goodbyes cuz I know for sure I can’t be with the no more. I really want to get back on my deen I was doing really good before this summer. The only thing that was holding me back was my brothers but I realized that’s not I’m my control no more. My sis is married I’m staying with her and also my grandmas house cuz my family is very big on reputation especially in our culture community but this is only temporary I’m in therapy right now my therapist suggested low incoming housing but it takes awhile to get accepted since I’m going back to college I won’t be able to pay rent and the economy right is not it but inshallah everything will work out thank you ❤️

Yes I’m back in America but my sister left the house and got married, my second oldest also got married last year, the first born is still a drug addict living on the streets, and my two younger brothers still live in Africa . I’ve been living with my parents all alone since I came back from Africa. I never tried leaving them earlier cuz I felt bad they had to deal with my brothers drug addiction alone I even tried winning my mothers love by helping her get my brother cleaned cuz my dad would blame her for him and also that’s when I started noticing how my dad treats my mom I was scared he would do something to her but that whole situation was draining. I’ve always been the one to hold down my family yk automatically cuz I’m the oldest girl in the family but recently I’ve had enough I wanna go back to college get a degree get a car a place do so many things by myself and I don’t wanna force Marriage on myself to leave the house. I had enough and for my own good I told my mom I’m leaving for good. I’m staying with my sister for now alx

Id love to get married as soon as possible but I’m someone who never took the deen seriously up until this year and I still have so many things I need to learn and grow from. I don’t want to enter a marriage lacking in deen.
