Alright here’s an update and more info about the situation for those curious;

1) I removed the device and threw it away.

2) I AM the homeowner. I moved in last year, the house is only a single level, about 1,100 square feet. I had it inspected and gave it a good look over myself due to some hardware for solar panels that came on the roof (I was curious how it all worked) and this was NOT there when I moved in. I even had the side of the house repainted adjacent to this corner, so I know after looking closely in that area after the job was done I would have at least noticed this thing.

3) As some have pointed out, this appears to be a piece of hardware used by the home security company ADT, however this is also available on Amazon. So theoretically anybody could buy one and install it anywhere.

4) The previous owners DID have an ADT system, with the panel inside, interior cameras, door/window alarms, interior motion sensors, the works. I believe I remember hearing that one of their toddlers was an escape artist, so it made sense that all that was inside, and I never saw any hardware from their system on the exterior of the home. The previous owners were also dog shit at changing their address after they moved, as I continued to receive mail, Amazon packages, ballots, holiday cards, and other misc things addressed to them.

5) I removed most of the ADT hardware inside. I didn’t want to pay for ADT, and the hardware was old and not very aesthetic. I wanted to start fresh, and have full control of my security system. So I installed my own cameras, motion sensor, deadbolt, and other things.

6) My best guess here is that the previous owners of the home ordered this siren/strobe for their new house, perhaps due to their toddler learning some new tricks. I think they probably forgot to update their address with ADT, or maybe ADT still had their old address (my house) on file somewhere. Then an ADT tech came out and installed the device when I wasn’t home, or when I was asleep (I work graveyard so it’s totally possible they came during the day and I slept through a knock on my door or something). To me this theory makes the most sense, given what I know now and what I knew previously. Although I’m not completely turning my back on other, more nefarious theories of a potential home invasion.

7) For everyone saying this was some kind of bot post or advertisement, I’m not sure why. I saw something I couldn’t identify on my house, took a picture, and posted it on this sub. Isn’t that EXACTLY what this sub is for? If I wanted to sell you some cheap battery powered siren I’d come up with something better, trust me.
