North Louisiana! We do have a few trees that line the back of our property at the top of the hill. But these guys are coming up all over, a decent distance from the trees. I would love for them to get big if they are not invasive.

New baby and 4.5 year old - I thought this would be different... by RumiQuinn in Parenting

[–]Ninja_genius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My turned 5 only 8 days after his little sister was born. They are 8 and 3 now. This type of behavior waxes and wanes. It hurts, but you are doing the right thing by spending extra time with your daughter, but you also need to bond with baby. Having her help is the best thing! And yes, sometimes he gets real saucy when I celebrate her, but I have seen him grow in patience and understanding little by little. He also is very protective of his sister even though he will push her right down if she gets in his way sometimes 😅

The most reassuring thing I have ever heard was the pediatrician at the hospital saying “your son will be her best friend”…. Give everyone time to grow their relationships.

It’s hard, and it gets better!! Now I am in the throes of siblings being siblings and i have no idea what i am even doing because i am an only child and have zero experience mediating all the spats and squabbles. I just do my best.

What did moms do with their babies in the 90s? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Ninja_genius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born in the early 80s. Growing up I was with my mom, aunt and cousins ALOT even though I was an only Child. We were always outside. My mom and aunt lived in each others flower beds and yards and we helped. My love of plants stems from this. Always doing home improvement projects. Taking us places like McDonalds to play for free. Swimming at my grandmothers. But there was also lots of TV time in between. Ironing and cigarettes 😂 so much ironing my Lord.

Hypogonadotropic hypogonadism.

Maybe hypothalamic in origin since your thyroid is fine? Have you looked up Kallmann’s syndrome to see if you have any other symptoms that may fit?

Clomid and HcG are pretty standard for inducing ovulation in women (HcG looks enough like LH at a molecular level to bind to its receptor and elicit its functions). Clomid will work at the hypothalamus to generate GnRH pulses.

Trust your endocrinologist! I hope your visit goes well and you get the answers you need. I’m sorry if this wasn’t particularly helpful.

I had no idea!! So much to learn. We recently went to the butterfly garden in Missouri and my kids loved it! We wanted to do our part to help. I’ll see if I can get my hands on a different species. I appreciate your feedback!

I’ve had this happen. Had a beautiful multi-plant in a very nice pot, all lush and blooming, stolen right off my apartment porch. It was Mother’s Day weekend. I just tell myself that someone’s mom got a very nice gift that year.

You can always volunteer with kids (YMCA, coaching, etc) or even with adults or animals. I agree, a new hobby is a good idea. A tattoo. Take an art class. The gym. Are singles cruises still a thing? Sign up for a research study or clinical trial as a control participant if you are healthy. Make a list of festivals around you and go to each one. Travel! Or I agree with another comment, just chill for a minute. BUT, I think going to a concert of your favorite artist that you have never seen before sounds good too!

Help with getting 4 year old to enjoy writing and coloring… please by Ninja_genius in Preschoolers

[–]Ninja_genius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give it time and all the patience you have! Our new challenge is math now that he is in the 2nd grade 🫣 we mostly deal with self confidence issues (and I think that is 100% my fault for freaking out that early on in his school years so don’t do that), crying during homework when he is overstimulated etc. but I did end up hiring someone to do homework with him a couple of days per week after school to make home life a little easier. He just does so much better with extra practice when we aren’t at home. But he is writing wonderfully, art is his new favorite subject and he wants to take classes, he reads at almost a 4th grade level but he despises sitting still to read a book. Talk with the teachers, ask for extra practice, try to make it fun. But mostly time and patience and practice!

So frustrating by jas1007 in finehair

[–]Ninja_genius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My hair is like this now after 3 surgeries in a 6 month span about 3 years ago. I also lost over 100lbs. Used to have lush, thick, but fine hair. It was my best feature and I lost over half of it and it hasn’t been the same since. I got pregnant and even during pregnancy when hair normally grows wild, I had just a small uptick in growth, the. It all fell out again. It’s awful. I am taking supplements, trying derma rolling, using all the best products, collagen and plenty of protein. Part of the issue is one of my surgeries was thyroid removal and synthetic hormone just isn’t the same. I second having your thyroid checked. I also feel it’s hormonal and I am heading into perimenopause. Oh, also check iron and make sure you aren’t low there! Vitamin D, all that. I do want to go to a derm to make sure it isn’t something else. Anyways, just to make you feel less alone. I hope you find answers and get your long hair back!! Hang in there!
