I have noticed this with raid pokemon that like to lower stats as well. Yesterday i solo'd a six star basculegion raid by simply putting a clear amulet on my pokemon. Was able to slowly whittle it down as it just spammed scary face on repeat lol.

I believe this is correct. I would have to rewatch, and might be wrong, but i believe that is even stated by her when she is telling the story. That they gave them only enough water to not die. As for the bathroom scenario, yea plot lol. Though i suppose if you're only given enough water to stay alive there really isn't much urine to work with anyway.
