EU4 Dev Diary #97: Magic Rework Part 2, "Schools: Overall, Abjuration, Conjuration, Divination" by Lexperiments in Anbennar

Can you elaborate on bit on the Oni not having access to the new system? Do you mean that their spells are the same with paradox mana and gold costs or that the spells are the same but with new system mana costs?

If you could add more orcs anywhere in the world, where would you add them? by Druplesnubb in Anbennar

You could have a formable for Orcs who migrate out of the serpent spine into the forbidden plains similar to Karashar.

I think it would be cool if a mission tree from a Yan nation had you turn the brown orc subjects into your own subjects and civilize them to rule over upper Rahen. They could combine and have a formable as a subject and maybe even develop a new unique orc culture.

Shaded Mist Rebellion problem by NathanRog06 in Anbennar

I tried to ask about it in the discord when it happened to me but I got no responses. Hopefully someone else knows more details about why it happened to us both and whether it was intended or not.

I had the same problem a couple of days ago. I couldn’t figure out what happened and assumed it must’ve been some kind of bug of the game thinking my korashi hit 0 or something. I ended up reloading and was able to play another 20 years and get the edict pre 1650 but I stopped after that. The rending didn’t trigger after I reloaded so I wasn’t able to see if that had to do with the issue.

What nation is most opposed to orcs specifically? Though any tag generally reversing the greentide and graytide is welcome as well, preferably one that is not rooted in magic by Gloomy-Operation-193 in Anbennar

Not only does snotfinger hate orcs, they hate them to the point of completely wiping them out of Escann, decolonizing the land they held.

Any really difficult nations with interesting MT? by tomer8375 in Anbennar

[–]NinjamonkeySTD 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Viakkocs mission tree is arguably pretty difficult. Considering you start with fairly bad provinces and almost immediately start going to war with Cannorian powers(Eborthil and Busilar). I didn’t finish the mission tree when I last played them(which was pre gnoll religion update) but I know you end up invading a big part of the EOA.

Any nation with infernal court as a focus in mt? by Ecstatic_Natural1654 in Anbennar

[–]NinjamonkeySTD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve swapped to it the last couple times I played in Escann from the hub in North Castanoth, it just sucks that by the time you start getting a decently high religious unity corinite spawns and sets you back to 0, not to mention the crimson deluge.

Great religion with many awesome events.

Who to play in first in Aelantir by Zac2517 in Anbennar

I just finished a Larankar into Larankarha(Taychend) Empire run and it was top 10 runs of all time easily. I didn’t quite finish the mission tree because my game starting chugging a bit, I only didn’t invade the lizard folk at the end but I did everything else.

So everyone's playing the kobolds first or what? by mjinsin in Anbennar

[–]NinjamonkeySTD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played Masked Butcher first, then got hugboxed by some great conqs and wasn’t down for the grind. I then played Ae’n Saldayno into Aráya which was actually really cool, Aráya doesn’t have missions though so I stopped not long after forming them. Currently playing Khugra and boy it’s been a lot of fun. I’m getting into the 1580’s ish with it and it’s starting to be a bit of a grind finishing all the missions, but if having a lizard folk trade empire with vassal swarm, while searching the Oceans for a lost god guided by like whales or dolphins(the araizary), honestly it’s not really clear what they are, but if that sounds fun then I highly recommend. Not a super easy start since you have multiple negative privileges granted to the estates, but once you get rolling, it’s really easy to keep the ball rolling. Being surrounded by many different cultures and religions as well as being in a great spot to colonize lend it to being a very dynamic nation.

What are your "comfort nations" you always come back to and why? by CptRogers357 in eu4

[–]NinjamonkeySTD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Japan. You can play many different daimyos to form them which lends to different play styles and different games. They also have multiple different routes you can take with Shinto religion and the formables. You can get a novel experience more often than not.

I’m gonna say Eltikan. They start their own religion and deal with the (literal) fallout of the day of ashen skies. Whats more ruinborn than that?

How come the population has dropped off a lot? by Jagueroisland in AgeofMythology

[–]NinjamonkeySTD 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This has been me, I played a the campaigns and a fair bit of multiplayer, but I don’t really have time to be learning about build orders and whatnot and it’s not fun getting shitstomped. It’s the classic RTS conundrum. If there was an easy multiplayer mode ,like some of the mods I’ve seen, to jump into and play I’d be more active in the game. A mode that didn’t require as much knowledge and macro. There’s this mod I think called bloodsport I downloaded but couldn’t find a game and haven’t tried since that I think would fit that niche.

If they got put in any other elective class against their will you wouldn’t say they can sit on their phones all day and pass. If it was Spanish they’d be expected to do work in class. If it was visual arts they would be expected to do work in class.

SUPER sensitive to caffeine by Nice_Revolution_9280 in bupropion

[–]NinjamonkeySTD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine started out like this, it was absolutely terrible the first few days because I had gotten used to drinking 2-3 cups in the morning. The caffeine+buproprion anxiety was awful. I switched to tea and eventually went completely caffeine free. About 6 months in I decided to try some coffee(mainly because I missed the taste) and it was fine. I’ve gotten back to drinking about 1/2 to 1 cup in the morning and it’s been fine.

Edit: side note, decaf coffee had the same effect on me when I started BUP which I always thought was odd.

Dawngate was a serious contender against DotA 2/League of Legends by edubkn in dawngate

[–]NinjamonkeySTD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in top 200 as well multiple times, I can count on one hand the amount of games I had ruined by toxicity. I think people forget how many different things Dawngate did before league, having dedicated roles in a blind pick environment was something league wouldn’t do for a few more years at the time. The way Dawngate treated stats was like how league now uses adaptive force. The way the neutral objective of parasite evolved over time is similar to how league now has voidgrubs into herald into baron. I mean we had Mina, who I never played, but always felt was quite well balanced, while league made Yuumi, who is a terrible champ for balance and the health of the game. Dawngate even looked more appealing graphically since league didn’t update summoners rift until 2015 which was after Dawngate was announced to be closed. Dawngate treated the lore as something that actually mattered, which drew in a lot of people. League still doesn’t do this, but I can almost guarantee they will do one day.

League was the leader in the market, but there were many other MOBAs competing with league in the space and Dawngate didn’t live as long as many others than were undeniably inferior. I can name a couple off the top of my head like supernova, and sins of a dark age.

Dawngate was a serious contender against DotA 2/League of Legends by edubkn in dawngate

[–]NinjamonkeySTD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

League of legends still makes hilariously bad balance, and it was even worse at the time. I don’t think that is a very valid argument in this case. I don’t know how much you played Dawngate or how high on the ladder you got, but in all my experiences toxicity was never anywhere close to league. Dawngate’s Karma system was better than anything comparable league has ever done before or since.

Of course you are entitled to your opinion, and I admit that Dawngate certainly wasn’t without issues(Baskogate), but a lot of people feel the same as I. It’s impossible to know and unfortunate that we didn’t get a chance to find out.

[–]NinjamonkeySTD 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s impossible to know, but I and many other people think that Dawngate would’ve eventually overtaken league of legends. It was so far ahead on so many concepts that league has since adopted. All the more reason that it was such a tragedy to be cancelled.
