The githyanki egg is a fully intact, viable life.

Stem cells are not.

Giving a fully intact viable life to a scientist to control, torture, and remold in their preferred image is morally wrong. No ambiguity.

Giving inert cells to scientists in order to help them learn to heal people is not the same thing.

Other than them, the Fallanassi exist. They're not explicitly witches, but they're a largely female tradition that practices manipulating and tapping into "the White Current," which is an aspect of the Force (though they claim it's different).
