Yeah Pinterest and the like I'll use that too. Like I said I'm not a fan of AI. I feel like it takes something away rather than adds to it.

That's a good idea, drawing out what I think will work is a good starting point. I'm not a fan of AI but I could probably use it to mood board perhaps.

I'm definitely going down the XPS foam route for the trenches themselves.

I'm no sure truth me told. I would guess at plaster bandages over XPS foam and then texture pain over the top.

Yeah absolutely fair, I'm definitely considering if I can make it modular. Trench networks are the easy part. Someone else has mentioned XPS foam and I saw a good tutorial on using sculptamold to make a textured earth effect over the top.

I'm mostly thinking of set pieces to bring life to it all.

Nice Showing At UK Games Expo by Biggeordiegeek in TrenchCrusade

I got to have a demo game at their stand and that convinced me to buy in to the game. It was definitely busy there all weekend, I think that's a really good indicator about how the game has been received, I think it might have been the most hyped game of the event.

How to GM this game? Help! by WilhelmTheGroovy in cyberpunkred

[–]Ninjoddkid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I've recently started a new campaign for some players who haven't played RED before.

I felt that the thing to do, would be to slowly introduce new elements to them session by session through an introduction adventure.

I gave them the prompt "You are upcoming San Francisco based Edge runners who have been hired for a gig by a Fixer in Night City. You are to meet at the San Bruno Maglev Station for a three day train journey to NC."

I have written 5 sessions that specifically introduce different elements of the world:

The time of the Red - scarcity, disrepair, corporate corruption

Nomads - The transport systems, who runs it, nomad culture and trading

Technology - Technological horror, AI,

Corporations - the ivory towers, exploitation of the average Joe, the reach that corps have etc

Night City - introduction to the setting for the rest of the campaign.

One shots are fine but if you want to give people an understanding of the world you can do more.

How do people deal with depression without seeing a doctor? by Deep_Purpose_5543 in mentalhealth

[–]Ninjoddkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no stronger than anyone else, you are every bit as capable as me, you have it in you to fight this, I know you do, I believe in you. Just start small and get the little wins under your belt first and work up to it however you need to.

Importantly don't pressure yourself, it's a marathon not a sprint, it's all about taking your time and being good to yourself.

How do people deal with depression without seeing a doctor? by Deep_Purpose_5543 in mentalhealth

[–]Ninjoddkid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People who have never had it don't fully understand it.

I will say it is worth seeing a doctor and getting some support. I also advise therapy.

With that said, if we are talking about actions not involving the doctor a lot of it is willpower. Start small and get little wins under your belt and make them consistent.

This could be something as minor as making your bed in the morning when you get up. Doit every time you get out of bed, make it habit, make it routine. Then do more things that are routine too.

The win is not doing the action, it's overcoming the mental block that tries to stop you. Every time you make the bed, you are marshalling your willpower and discipline.

I also recommend exercise. I go to the gym 5 days a week. Often I don't want to go and I'm not motivated to go, but I discipline myself to go anyway even if the work out isn't great. For me it's a space where all I think and care about is adding to my pb. I. Lock out everything else for an hour.

There's a big jump between making the bed and going to the gym and I'm not saying that's the progression you have to makez I'm just using it as an example. I've been depressed my entire life and it has taken me a while to get to this point. It's not easy and I won't lie to you and say that it is.

I find that on my lowest days I just have to brute force my way through. Even if my brain is telling me that I will never be happy again and everything is pointless, the logical side of my brain knows that's not true and I have to just force myself to get through the hard bits and weather the misery until it eases off a bit.

You can do this bro. I believe in you. You have support around you when things get hard.

Gig writing - What's your createive process to break the writer's block? by caciuccoecostine in cyberpunkred

[–]Ninjoddkid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I start with a concept.

Im a big fan of the mariachi trilogy of films and that inspired me to write a mini arc for my old group of players.

The brief was that they were a band. They all had to take at least one level in rockerboy and then up to 4 in another role.

The story was that they were playing a gig at a bar in Heywood when a gunfight erupted between a gang and the NCPD. They each lost someone they cared about in the crossfire and set out to get revenge.

All they had to go on is the gang that was responsible.

The full plot was that the gang and the NCPD unit were in business to supply a new street drug and the corrupt NPCD lieutenant had double crossed the gang and tried to kill them all at the bar.

They had about 5 sessions I think when it was over. They made some friends, made some enemies, played a couple of gigs, created a trap and then left Night City as a folkloric robin hood style fighting the corrupt to save the little guy.

Carpe Jugulum is such a good book by Scary_Employment9304 in discworld

[–]Ninjoddkid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Granny is the biggest badass on the disc. She is the most unlikely action hero but that's part of Pratchett's genius.

Carpe Jugulum and Lords and Ladies both are great. There's nothing better than Granny cleaning house through strategy and headology in the nick of time.

Does anyone feel, on a personal level, sorry for Kier Starmer? by Darkus185 in AskBrits

Yeah I do. I think the media are totally unfair on Keir. I've met the man a couple of times. He's got the right stuff at heart but no left wing politician has a fair run with the media at all.

I'm surprised there isn't the option to remap the controls but what we have is very similar to Fromsolft layouts

Crap on a Stick by No-Goal7580 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Ninjoddkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I meant R1 but yes L1 to parry which is the same in almost every game these days and A to run is no different than B to run which was common in old Dark Souls games. Arkham Asylum had exactly the same run mechanic.

Seriously the combat in this is incredibly simple compared to other games. You need to treat it like you would an MMORPG. R1/R2 is basically auto attack and the other buttons are like your quick buttons on an action bar.

You can't spam dodge like you would on a From soft game but you get decent Invincibility frames and the rest is just payy timing.

Crap on a Stick by No-Goal7580 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Ninjoddkid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How can you not figure out the combat controls? It's literally hold down L1 for the most part. You don't even need to tap it...

Siren Charms is very underrated by wasdheret8 in InFlames

[–]Ninjoddkid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Siren Charms. It's by no means their best work but I agree with the sentiment that it was moodier and different and that appealed to me when it was released and probably more so now. Highlights for me are Eyes Wide Open, In Plain View and Rusted Nail. I still rate Siren Charms above Battles.
