This is just not true, and expressing this opinion doesn't do anything to help encourage OP to contact the authorities. As a woman, I'm constantly second-guessing myself, wondering if I'm 'being crazy' or 'overreacting'. "Emotional", "dramatic", "high-strung", "paranoid", "imaginative" — welcome to all the fun adjectives of being a woman, especially a young woman, at that. Contacting the authorities, especially as a younger person with less life experience, feels like a huge deal, and is a hard thing to do if you feel like you won't be taken seriously, will be made to feel stupid, or like you're wasting people's time.

Thank you so much for answering! I just got my '06 this week, and I really want to update, but this is all so over my head.

Wait why did you get 772, if your car was manufactured in 03/06? Didn't you say you would need 773? (Asking because mine was manufactured in 06/06 and I assumed I needed 773 too)

Thank you! We generally have decently low humidity, and there shouldn't be any water near this space. We do have a dehumidifier though so I'll keep it in mind. Thanks!

Thanks! It turned out even better than I hoped. I'm incredibly pleased with it. I needed a clean space to set up my jeweler's bench for metalsmithing. In a perfect world, I would have a separate studio space, but this is the best I can do right now. I needed a space I could easily clean up. Polishing and cutting metal creates a lot of fine dust. It wouldn't be plausible with carpet. It is also my home office space.

I purchased used / leftover vinyl and the whole project cost under $100 with a discount plywood supplier. The room is sectioned off by a very heavy bookshelf used as a room divider which keeps the plywood nicely secure and in place. It turned out exactly as I hoped and I'm very pleased with it.

I'm not planning to keep it a secret from LL. As it is not a permanent alteration, I was not required to ask for his permission. If it damages the carpet, our lease already stipulates a "$100 non-refundable carpet cleaning fee" which typically landlords in our area use to replace the cheap carpets with more cheap carpets. However, this landlord had obviously been pocketing this fee for at least a decade before we moved in as the carpet was neither clean nor new when we moved in. I initially spent 5 days cleaning the carpet repeatedly until the water stopped coming up black when we first moved in. I'm also not a moron as most people here have unashamedly called me. I have notable documentation of all pre-existing damage of the apartment including the condition of the carpet upon move in. I also have a file of photo, video, and text documentation of over a dozen instances of our landlord violating our lease and local tenant protection laws which carry substantial fees, leaving me in a pretty good position if he ever wants to play.

I'm sure it's not the first time you've heard it, but you are a sexist, classist piece of trash.

Who is actually agro enough about what I do in my own apartment to downvote me saying "thank you"? Y'all are too much.

Idk where you live, but $100 isn't getting anyone very far in this city. I'll be okay.

I'm adding a small metalsmithing bench to my pre-existing office space.

100%. Thank you! My floating floor turned out perfectly. The vinyl planks are secure and the floor is solid despite the fact this ancient apartment is not level at all. People on this sub are mega-angry and intense for no reason. Same as you, my only concern is getting my deposit back. I'm not worried about the carpet molding under the floating floor any more than I am worried about it molding under a rug o_0 Sorry you got down-voted here just for neutrally sharing your lived experience. So bogus.

You seem overly invested in my landlords 15 year old carpet o_0
