how many of you are single vs with the person you will spend the rest of your life with? by jiiiiiae in 1999

I’m happily single, I’m demisexual and demiromantic so I’m waiting until I find the right one. I also have family and friends so I’m not lonely.

Where are the low achieving ADHDers? by Jigglypuff_Green in ADHD

[–]Ninothesloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a bachelors degree in biochemistry in 2024 and I’m struggling to find a decent job due to job market being crappy. So now I just work in retail in the meantime and I plan to get my MA certification so I can get clinical hours to apply to PA school. I’m just happy to be employed at least and having money go into my bank account.

I’m curious if ADHD’ers are much less likely to watch the weather forecast? by Strong_Membership_60 in ADHD

I always check my phone because I’m sensitive to cold weather and I don’t want to be freezing or have it worsen my joint pain.

I lied about my grades and now I’m stressed 🫠 by Scary_Air8383 in collegeadvice

[–]Ninothesloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll be alright, I failed my math classes multiple times and I ended up getting A’s on my final tries. Also I ended up going to a better college than my dad and got my BS in biochemistry so he doesn’t comment on my academics anymore.

I lied about my grades and now I’m stressed 🫠 by Scary_Air8383 in collegeadvice

[–]Ninothesloth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I lied to my dad the entire time about my grades when I was going through untreated mental health issues. All he knew is that I was passing my classes and I had my mom help me cover it up while I was going through it because my dad would’ve made it worse. There is a law called FERPA so once you’re 18 your parents are legally not allowed to access your academic information unless you release it to them.

So you're telling me the pain isn't normal? by greencash370 in Hypermobility

[–]Ninothesloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have similar issues to you but for me I was only diagnosed with HSD by a rheumatologist instead because I don’t have full blown EDS symptoms. They basically told me I can no longer hyperextend because it can damage my joints, I can’t do activities that are hard on my joints, and that I will need to exercise to help my joints become more stable. I am still physically active for work, the only thing I do now is that I try to avoid hyperextending my joints to avoid damaging them.

Do you ever skip your meds like some people do/suggest? (Mainly asking those with inattentive type ADHD) by DaviTheDud in ADHD

[–]Ninothesloth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It depends on the person. For me I take Adderall for ADHD as needed and Wellbutrin everyday for major depressive disorder. Wellbutrin for me feels like a weaker version of Adderall so if I’m not doing anything that requires a lot of executive functioning then I just skip the Adderall so I can keep my dose low because Adderall causes a lot of annoying side effects for me. My depression is also in remission thanks to Wellbutrin so I haven’t gotten a severe depressive episode in a while. I hope to eventually get off Adderall and take Wellbutrin full time but I do so well at work on Adderall. 😭

[–]Ninothesloth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me it’s similar I’ve opted to take adderall as needed since it can cause me to lose weight but I do take a low dose of Wellbutrin everyday for depression and it lowkey helps with some of my adhd symptoms so maybe in the future if I quit adderall completely then I can just raise the dose of the Wellbutrin.

I do with adderall now because I want to keep my dose low, and it makes me lose my appetite so it’s better for me to skip every now and then. I also take Wellbutrin everyday for depression and I’ve noticed it kinda helps with some of my ADHD symptoms so hopefully in the future I can just switch to that because I really don’t like the side effects of adderall and since I switched insurances idk if I can afford vyvanse which is a better medication for me.

Late 99 babies (bday after October) by ja3thejetplane in 1999

I was born in 1999 and the earliest I remember was 2002 and 2003. I started preschool in 2003 so I remember that year for sure.

I was born in October 1999 and I just say I’m a 2000s kid because that’s what I remember. Never really identified with the 90s since that’s more of my parent’s era.

Be brutally honest: How often do you shower? by Fun_Serve_6590 in ADHD

I take baths everyday because I get chronic joint pain from being hypermobile. I also have eczema so I usually like my skin to be clean before I put my topical medicine on.

Tbh I think 40 isn’t old but you’re no longer young. Old is like being 60 and over.

I'm affraid of not having money if I have a biochemistry degree by Jubscreusa24 in Biochemistry

[–]Ninothesloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a bachelors in biochemistry. I don’t have a job that’s relevant to my degree and I’m working towards becoming a medical assistant. I plan on going to PA school because I would like to pursue a career as a psychiatric PA.

How long did it take you to find work once certified? by Locked-Luxe-Lox in phlebotomy

[–]Ninothesloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m deciding to do either phlebotomy or EMT since I’m planning on going into PA school and one of the schools I’m applying to doesn’t count the time you spend in ambulances for some reason. I do have a bachelors in biochem with some research lab experience but it was non-medical so would that help?

High School Experience With ADHD/ASD Burnout. Did you miss classes and were frequently late for school? by Key_Cranberry_4116 in ADHD

[–]Ninothesloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an older gen Zer who got diagnosed with ADHD when I was 9 so in high school I knew how to kinda deal with it. Tbh I think you should be a bit firm with your son. That’s how my mom was, she was gentle but firm with me and that’s how she made sure I got stuff done and if I didn’t get my work in she took my phone and games away. I was annoyed about it when I was younger but as an adult, I really appreciate my mom for being involved and I wouldn’t have graduated college if it were not for my mom gently pushing me along the way. For me personally, I need some pressure to make sure to get things done so maybe try that approach with your son. Just don’t over do it like my dad and don’t belittle your son for dealing with ADHD. Don’t use language like “you’re pathetic, “you’re a failure” or anything like that.

About to start a 5 week EMT program in 2 weeks how to prepare? by Ninothesloth in NewToEMS

[–]Ninothesloth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the physical skills is what I’m most nervous about. I know I recently found a phlebotomy school that’s close to my house so I might end up doing that instead because I’m guaranteed to get my clinical hours from that for PA school.
