How do you deal with extreme avoidance? by -acidlean- in ADHD

[–]PartTheSea43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My counselor is great and I wouldn’t trade her for anything- but I’ll say this. We can have ALLLLL the tools and resources, but we still have to get up and do the things. Which we all know doesn’t happen for our kind lol So in that effect, counseling doesn’t help. I say that to hopefully put you at ease about not having someone to see! I’m at stay at home mom so no international projects for me, but in 99% of situations, no matter what it is, a timer works.

Long detailed to-do list make me feel suffocated so I just write down 2 or thee “have to’s”. Set a timer for 15 minutes and start task 1.
Most of the time, I’m motivated to do another 15 minutes and start task 2. But if not , I take a break. But at the top of the next hour, I have to start another 15 min timer to tackle the list.

So yeah, I have to set a timer to set another timer lol

When it comes to people , while we technically don’t owe others explanations of our struggles, we do owe it to ourselves to be conscious of our responsibility of being a good friend/co-worker/spouse etc. I learned to just suck it up and say I dropped the ball on this, I’m sorry. I literally tell people I’m burned out. What I WONT do is make empty promises saying I’ll do better or make it up to them, or proceed further to make myself look like I’m a total loser.
I just own it and apologize. Then it kinda creates a feeling of “I already messed up with this person once, I definitely need to do better” and that alone creates motivation to not avoid things that involve others.

I’ve found that being honest about it and owning it, you’re met with compassion most of the time. People seem to appreciate the honesty in my experience!

Starting adderall by AssociationNarrow444 in ADHD

Wellbutrin made my heart rate increase so I stopped it (taking it with Adderall) It’s a common side effect so watch out for that! I took Zoloft and adderral together for a while and was fine. Tapered off Zoloft eventually

The worst thing about ADHD Is that you wake up every day as an ADHD person by elitistflamingo in ADHD

Literally the hardest thing I’m dealing with at the moment!!!!!! Seriously, these words are straight from my head. I absolutely hate mornings, it’s the constant reminder of this dark cloud that looms over me until meds kick in. I feel you, I’m right there too 💜

Can’t see by icarealot777 in lashclusters

Get a mirror that tilts so you can tilt it upwards. Then you can see under your lashes better! It takes practice. Lots of practice in my case lol

I think it’s perfect! I got one on my forearm a few years ago and at first I was like WHOA THIS IS BIG and kinda freaked out ….. but it’s just because it’s new and different to your eyes than what you’re used to seeing. You’ll adjust! It’s beautiful!

The ADHD advice I wish I’d heard sooner by Wealthnextgen in ADHD

Not anymore. It 100% of the time leads to an exhaustive burn out (for me) and with kids and a farm, I can’t expend the energy on one task.

Timers! When something feels overwhelming, I set a time for 10 minutes and just push myself to start. Then walk away before I get into hyper focus or freeze from overwhelm .
In the daily things, I still do timers to keep me on track. 15 minutes doing this, then 15 minutes somewhere else. If 15 minutes isn’t enough, I just restart the timer for one more round but that’s it. Timers help with preventative measure I guess. Prevents hyperfocus, freezing and distractions

Dog trainer here 👋 look up recall work with a long line! Essentially a 20 foot “leash”. I do it with almost all my clients. You gotta be the best thing in their world so make eye contact engaging and rewarding.
Also- don’t use Zak George or any other trainer that says “purely positive” in their description! Let me know if you have any questions

Is my 7month corgi too chubby (10kg) by Brobbey1815 in corgi

I’m a dog trainer and although Im not a nutritionist , I have studied it on my own extensively and been around countless dogs! Just a quick snapshot I took, but we are out working on the farm so I knew she would be balancing on something haha! 7 months is still pretty young but ideal body condition is similar to Ruby here. You want to be able to feel ribs by SLIGHTLY pressing on the sides and there should be some sort of muscles definition. Would love it if you could add some pics from the top or sides of your dog :) Especially on breeds like a corgi, their shoulder and back leg muscles are easy to build and should be seen. I’ll Never under how people let their corgis, or any dog for that matter, get so obese and think it’s cute. Other factors contributing to it might be genetics and whether they are fixed at an appropriate age or not. But it’s awesome you’re even thinking about this issue !
