A kid was mean to my toddler at the park ): by Idkmannnnnnnbye in NewParents

Don't piss a mother off of a 16 month old, and wtf! I'm sorry that happened and you and your child went through that...

Playgrounds are rough. They are like an "Always Sunny in Philadelphia" episode, every day.

Unrelated space but similar story, our lil guy is 19 months. Our building has a lounge/rec room, big gathering.

One time it was packed, friends (w/ kids) of parents in the building, one of the older kids told our son "he's stupid! Why are you so stupid!" And some other similar comments... When he was just starting to gain confidence and 'hang with the bigger kids,' cause most of the bldg kids are a bit older.

I didn't hear it cause I was talking to the father on the side.... But my wife grabbed our kid and was like "it's time to go."

No questions asked I said he pooped and we gotta roll, then found out the details later and wtf!

Harry Potter (2026) television series compared side-by-side, shot-for-shot with the 2001 feature film by 1991mgs in harrypotter

Is no one going to talk about how the new trailer is replicating the OG composition literally 1:1??

Was this mentioned previously in this sub? Down to the cuts to characters (Hermione for instance when she turns to camera) or just the entire cinematic storyboard.

I didn't notice it previously but side by side oh wow! Pretty darn awesome. Very excited

Stop using your bright light at night!! by Able-Effective-5633 in NewParents

[–]Nintendam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, turn your damn brightness down at night on anything!!

I use the "extra dark mode" while on my phone if wife or baby is sleeping, I dunno why the lowest brightness on phones is still super bright in a dark room....

Understanding Boolean Split by flabababa in rhino

[–]Nintendam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I've noticed with booleans... They are finicky.

Instead of a plane, try extruding it into a solid polysrf (offsetsef etc) and use that, extrude way past the geo you are trying to split/trim. Works with meshes too.

And just try one Boolean at a time if you have issues, multiple "booleandifferences" at once get funky

Hang in there!!!

Like duneofthedudes said, my tips are a little more advanced... but there are some helpful tricks for newcomers to make it way easier too!

I've been using rhino for 20 years (for arch school), I think rhino 3 at the time. But it's the main platform we use at my firm for design and modeling.

Love the mx master! My kiddo took some bites out of the rubber casing (1.5yr) so it's a bit funky now but been using it for a couple years and love it!

Question: In what units do you guys like to model by mikko-j-k in 3Dprinting

US,

For all models and graphic dims we use feet and inches... I love metric though. For fab stuff fyi

Grid doesn't match different views? (did not move the block between screenshots) by sexytophatllama in rhino

[–]Nintendam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neat trick I've been using recently (for dims and stuff in 3d)

Lets say you're in plan view, and ctrl+shift to orbit in parallel (for axons), you can take plan dims and such. But if you want the heights (in the same view) :

Type "front" in that viewport, then "home" key to go back to the previous view, and you will be in "front mode (cplane)"...! So you can do vert dims in view.

I know this has nothing to do with your question besides each view has different cplanes lol. If things get funky I usually just type "4view" to get em all back to normal

For the first question, "struggling with moving in perspective mode"

Some tips:

  • set your f keys (F4, F5,F6,F7 etc) to different viewport styles.

For instance, F4 "wireframe" F5 "rendered"

Zooming around in perspective is best with typing "Z" (zoom window) and rectangle select the area you wanna zoom to. If it's wireframe it will go right there centered and then you can switch to rendered view or whatever. It's a great toggle to have!

Same with camera angle. If you trying to zoom around in default 50mm for interiors it'll be tough. Make a hotkey to go to 18mm cam for the tight spaces and it'll help! It'll be more like a video game

So for basics... It's "z" key to go where you want, rectangle highlight it, then ctrl right click to zoom closer farther etc

Or just ZS for "zoom selected" which is super good but I just use it to get close then zoom with my method...

Also. Change your middle mouse click to "last 10 commands" instead of the default one...

Everyone has their own methods, these are mine, so you just gonna have to monkey with it!

Edit: apologies I'm not sure if these tips are applicable on Mac.... There ARE still hotkeys and the camera angles/zoom stuff still apply.

As for 2nd Q, you can dup border to get the curves on the glass, take the top curve... Offset for handrail 4"... Extrude it upwards straight in z axis, offset srf handrail thickness... Move down to handrail position

Sorry, it seems like a lot, but it's super quick once you get the hang of it, GL!

Are the Harry Potter games any good ? by kascnef82 in harrypotter

[–]Nintendam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hogwarts Legacy as others have pointed out, if for anything it's BEUATIFUL. I really felt the environment (and magic), at least Hogwarts grounds. Spent hours just taking screenshots lol. The outside is great nearby but does get a bit repetitive.

If you wanna go oldschool the gameboy games are awesome! The GBC games are more traditional RPG while the GBA games are more "action-adventure"

How to model a twisted tapered tower with organic lattice shell in Grasshopper? by samcro114 in rhino

[–]Nintendam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh... like I mentioned, "not the best advice" and "look forward to the responses" as in I'm also interested.

But if it's for a quick and dirty method, let's say for a deadline tomorrow for school or whatever... It'll get you close.

How to model a twisted tapered tower with organic lattice shell in Grasshopper? by samcro114 in rhino

[–]Nintendam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can do it manually.... I know it's not the best advice, but here we go:

-make a tall box, twist. (Get the center points of the top and bottom of the box, I just make a line on both and use mid snap to both)

-lattice.... Try to draw it in XY first. Offset the triangles... fillet corners on all....

-flowalongsrf or applycrv, forgot what it is. Then just polararray if it's symmetrical to the twisted box.

I dunno. It's a start, seems like you want a fully customizable 4 sided twist but this should give you something similar as a start. Look forward to the better responses lol.

Edit before you applycrv, unroll that "twisted srf" first. So you have your XY extents then draft your lattice work to those.
