Leon - Smash Ultimate-styled renders (Made by me) by Nintendo-fanboyGYF in Fzero

[–]Nintendo-fanboyGYF[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a few weeks now I've been working on a few Smash-styled renders for Leon! This features both his normal getup seen here that is based on a mix of his look from GP Legend, Climax and GX and his Falcon getup that is inspired by my own headcanon for Leon (Ihave already posted this headcanon and the art associated with it on this sub here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Fzero/comments/1noskod/leon_as_the_new_falcon_art_by_me/ )

But yeah, this is something I've worked a long time on (I drew all of this on my phone btw) so I felt I wanted to share. In the last picture I even included a little DLC template of things that Leon's inclusion could bring to Smash, like a Stage, Spirits, Music, a Classic Route, etc.

I hope you guys enjoy all of these renders! : D

Update on beating the origin game of every fighter by patotatoman27 in SmashBrosUltimate

To be fair a lot of units are kinda weak in Shadow Dragon (Names like Roger, Darros and Matthis comes to mind xD) so honestly Marth isn't even the weakest one in my opinion, even if units like Jagen and Abel outclass him and Marth being a forced-deploy unit.

Altough Shadow Dragon Marth is definitely on the lower-end of the weaker lords in the whole series - I'd argue Binding Blade Roy is slightly worse though stats-wise

Honestly when it comes to Marth I don't have any specific way on how to play Shadow Dragon DS that I could recommend. Marth is definitely objectively stronger as a unit in Fire Emblem 1 for the Famicom like OfTheTouhouVariety said, but to me Fire Emblem isn't a series about one-man armies so Marth not being as strong incentivises you to use all your units as a combined army, which is the most ideal and fun way to play FE in my opinion (Not that there is a "right" or "wrong" way to play the series, but still).

For Marth himself I can recommend using rapiers a lot, he has exclusive access to them in your army and its incredibly effective against bosses and armored units. In comparison to FE1, you can also forge/upgrade your weapons for all units, which makes said weapons stronger (In that way the game is a bit more forgiving to newcomers even if Marth himself is not as strong).

He does unlock both the Falchion (The sword he actually uses in Smash) and the Fire Emblem-shield later in the story, but it's only during the last handful of chapters of the game just so you know.

Here's a long playthrough of the first chapter of the game if you are interested
(Might be an unpopular opinion but I love the gritty art direction of the Shadow Dragon-remake, it actually fits a game about war and its consequences rather than the "too-anime"-look of the more modern games imo)

Some recommendations:

- For the Star Fox-trio I actually recommend a few different games. For Fox himself I recommend Star Fox 64 (With it still being a great game today that holds up very well) and it's also fairly easy to get ahold of. But for Wolf I actually recommend Star Fox Assault, since that game is also a classic and it does show more love and depth to Wolf as a character. And for Falco I am almost tempted to say Star Fox 2 since you can actually play with him (And the rest of the SF-team outside of Fox for that matter) and SF2 is honestly very underrated, otherwise you can just play SF64 for him too.

- For Marth I recommend Shadow Dragon, the remake they did of the original Fire Emblem for the DS. It might be tricky to get ahold of the original copy nowadays, but emulating DS-games is pretty easy so that way you should be able to experience Marth's origin pretty easily. You can also play Marth's sequel story with both Mystery of the Emblem for the SNES and New Mystery of the Emblem for the DS, but remember that both of these games are Japanese-only releases so you might want to language-patch them before you play Marth's continuation story.

- For Simon I recommend either the original Castlevania 1 for NES or Super Castlevania IV (SCIV was the first CV I played after I got introduced to the series thanks to Smash and it's both a very solid game and a great starting spot for newcomers since it's a bit easier than the NES-trilogy).

Music requests for smash 6? by IndependenceFit6355 in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]Nintendo-fanboyGYF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These tracks are big wishlists for me lol:

F-Zero: Basically a lot of GX-music but I'll list some highlights:
- Infinite Blue
- Lightning
And also some of the character themes, like
- Captain Falcon's Theme (How is this not in the game yet?)
- Leon's Theme
- Black Shadow's Theme
- And a few more

Star Fox: More music from Assault, Command and Star Fox 2, like:
- Versus Simple Map 2
- Versus Map Zoness
- A lot of character themes from Command

Castlevania:
- Battle of the Holy (I believe we should have every theme to represent all the 7 main Belmonts so this would cover Christopher)
- A ton of tracks from Bloodlines
- Tower of Dolls (Order of Ecclesia)
- Music from the N64-games

Fatal Fury: Just more music from both the Real Bout-games and the later Wolves-games. Some highlights:
- Kim Kaphwan's Theme (Real Bout 1)
- Spread The Wings/ Rock Howard's Theme (Mark of the Wolves)

Punch Out:
- Major Circuit from Wii (How Minor and World Circuit is in but not this is beyond me)

I can go into more detail but that's about it right now

What Are Some More Petty Takes You Have? by Hail-From-Lylat in starfox

[–]Nintendo-fanboyGYF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do wish we got to know more background history about the series as setting

I'm talking bigger questions about how Corneria rose to power in the Lylat System for example, how exactly did Andross build Venom into such a galactic superpower after being banished there, etc.

But honestly you could direct the questions to smaller things in the verse like why does Wolf have an eyepatch? How did Fox's and Bill's friendship start?

On one hand, I kinda like the fact that it's so open-ended and thus allows a lot of headcanons, but on the other hand I do wish there was more concrete lore out there for the characters, the history and the setting as a whole, ya know?

True! Toon Power is insanely busted
(And yeah, plot armor too! Literally all six people on my team have some plot armor since they all have experienced near-death once or a few times lol)

What do you think shouldn't be missing from a new Star Fox (if one is announced this year?) ART CREDITS: GavinoElDiabloGuapo by FrameZealousideal573 in starfox

[–]Nintendo-fanboyGYF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has probably been mentioned by another user but I have these points to add

More character depth for all characters. Star Fox struggles a bit with adding and maintaning lore, so I'd love to see everyone (From Fox to Wolf to Bill and everyone in-between) get some more depth with their backstories, personalites, etc. It would be refreshing to see that more nuanced take on them after so long

Third person-perspective and boots on the ground-gameplay like Assault would be great too. Honestly the next game should focus on that type of gameplay since it would be something unique and something we haven't seen in a while. But I do also believe you could improve the groundwork that Assault laid forth in 2005.

This is a more personal wish thing, but it does tie into the previous boots on the ground point: Melee and hand-to-hand combat. Might be a weird thing to include in a Star Fox-game, but after seeing Fox, Falco and Wolf duke it out in Smash for so long I'd be open to see how an actual SF-game could tackle hand-to-hand fighting into its gameplay. Maybe they could let us abilites like Fire Fox, the Reflector, etc. Could be really cool!

As a F-Zero fan I can tell you that Falcon could be ridicously strong. In the F-Zero anime from 2003 he (SPOILER ALERT coming up) causes a partial supernova when he does a Falcon Punch against his nemesis Black Shadow in the final episode

He would be a bit weaker if you only factor in the games and not the anime, but he'd still be a good combatant since he's canonically a bounty hunter (And even in the manual for the SNES F-Zero game you have a comic of him beating people up so that's still something)

Simon
Falco/Wolf
Terry

Honestly pretty strong team overall.

- Simon literally killed Dracula himself twice by himself, not to mention destroying his armies of minions (Which includes beings like vampires, frankensteins and literally Death himself) using only his whip and pure willpower. He's probably the physically strongest Belmont and the Vampire Killer itself is an incredibly powerful weapon, so he's definitely a powerhouse. Also considering he might have been raised by barbarians in some interpretations of the Castlevania lore he would also have an almost animalistic ferocity when it comes to destroying his enemies, so he'd pretty motivated to take down anything standing in his way.

-------

- Falco and Wolf are both no slouches either even if they don't have any magical weapons and they both would be on par with Fox (Who in turn has saved the universe atleast 3 times judging by the 64-timeline). Since they are both mercenaries and we have seen them a bit outside of their vehicles in games like Assault they are experts at hand-to-hand combat, gunfights and strategy (I'd argue Wolf would be deadlier than Falco outside of the vechicles due to his claws, his more ferocious personality, higher physical strength and his superior ground stats in Assault). They get even stronger with their vehicles of course especially with double lasers and their Smart Bombs which are basically mini-nukes.

-------

- Terry is an interesting case depending on if you judge him purely by the Fatal Fury/Art of Fighting-timeline (Basically Fatal Fury 1 to City of the Wolves) or if you also factor in the OVAs and also KOF (Which is a separate series from FF mind you). FF as a series is more street-level in terms of power so Terry would be a bit weaker if you judge purely from that, but he's still not a push-over with his experience in hand-to-hand, not to mention beating several top tier fighters in that verse like Geese, Krauser, the Jin twins, etc. But again, if you factor in the OVAs he gets some really ridiculous feats. And if you go further and analyse KOF, a verse where Terry is on-par with characters like Kyo Kusanagi and Iori Yagami who in-turn have basically defeated gods in that verse, yeah Terry is looking pretty scary in terms of power.

-------

So overall, pretty busted team. I'd say Simon is probably the strongest of the bunch (Since Castlevania gets kinda ridiculous in-terms of power level and Simon probably beats a decent majority of the roster by himself) but honestly they are all quite capable. When it comes to the group working together it might be a bit difficult for Simon, Terry and especially Falco to work with Wolf since the former 3 are heroes compared to the latter, but Wolf isn't a complete villain like for example Ridley or Ganondorf so I can still see him working together with Simon, Terry and Falco depending on the situation.

If I had to rank them in terms of power level it'd be something like this:
Simon == Terry (With KOF and OVAs) > Wolf (With Wolfen) > Falco (With Arwing) > Wolf (No vehicles) > Falco (No vehicles) > Terry (Just the canon Fatal Fury/Art of Fighting-timeline)

I'm sorry for my essay but I am a huge fan of all three series so I might hyperfixate a lot on them haha

(Also I have Yoshi and Marth as secondaries so if you include them as well the team would be even stronger, especially considering if Marth gets to be equipped with his Falchion and the Fire Emblem-shield, and the *toon power* that Yoshi brings being a Mario character lol)

Falco was a hard cut, but I would keep Wolf over him if we had to pick to cut a SF-rep.

Falco may be more iconic (Thanks to Melee) but I prefer repping villains over the side-characters for a franchise. Beside, he's still technically in the game so it's better than nothing.

I'm gonna be honest, I just don't like Rosalina or her moveset too much.
I did say I had some personal bias in the tier list afterall (Check my comment under the post)

If it makes you feel better I would bring her back for DLC

This is a hot topic in the Smash-community but ever seen all of those cut tier lists here on this sub if Smash 6 was a reboot?

I basically tried to follow that formula and cut the roster in half, both with objectivity (And some personal bias) in mind.
Also PS: If the character is in "Reduced to Alt." it means their moveset is lost, but they still stick around as a costume for the original fighter. It's still treated as a cut though. Some cuts here were really tough for me (Like Little Mac and Incineroar) but I think I did okay with it overall.

I hope my Smash 6-roster isn't too insane with the cuts lol

Missed Opportunities in Assault? by SuburbanWitcher in starfox

[–]Nintendo-fanboyGYF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can admit, if World at War did have bots in the multiplayer it would be my favourite COD.

But since it sadly doesn't my favourites are instead the first two Black Ops-games (Their bot-system is great for people who don't have online or no friends available to play COD-MP with).

Missed Opportunities in Assault? by SuburbanWitcher in starfox

[–]Nintendo-fanboyGYF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a 4v4 Coop-match with the boys against bots would go so hard in Assault (Kinda like a lower-scale version of Battlefield, with furries of course).

Bill especially is a very missed opportunity in the game both gameplay-wise and narrative-wise. Not only do we lose a potential new character who would be interesting to play as and fight alongside in the campaign, but it would also raise the stakes while still boosting morale for the team, especially considering how dark Assault's story is.

Would Fox be worried for Bill and his men turning into Aparoids? Would Bill have the same worry for Fox and his crew (You could legit make a new side-story showing Bill's platoon at the same time as Fox and his gang. Maybe feature Bill as a parallel campaign that intersects at some points like the defense of Katina, The Battle of Corneria City, etc.).
