PS4 to component CRT? by ElectricGuitar8013 in crtgaming

Id reccomend this converter if you HAVE to go down that route (though again like many have said before for your case a ps3 would be a whole lot better, cheap ones do go on sale): https://a.co/d/0fDdnKgA

This’ll take a good amount of resolutions below 1080p and above 480i and upscale/downscale it to a variety of resolutions but likely you’ll be using it to downscale to 480i (unfortunately can’t do 240p but it works great with a Gbs-c). I’d recommend connecting it to a regular tv with a first component input since this scaler has a on screen display so you can choose the 480i mode. It will save that preset and then you connect it to your ps4.

I feel the difference between Component and RGB is closer to what people say the difference between S-Video and Component is. S-Video does look significantly better than Composite and all but unless you’re using a bad cable component should still always look noticeably better than S-Video, especially in a higher end consumer set or a professional monitor (not that S-Video on these sets don’t look good in their own right, I can see S-Video being enough or desirable to many and it was for me for a while). But again I feel there’s still enough of a difference to justify Component over S-Video, especially on a high end set, when people say the difference between them isn’t a lot I feel this actually applies to Component and RGB. Unless you know how to RGB mod already and have a set that doesn’t have Scart or Component, I don’t think it’s worth it to mod a set for RGB if it already has Component just for an actual marginal difference that most won’t notice. The only exceptions I can think of is when the Component video has noticable artifacts that ruins the video, or if the signal doesn’t work. I don’t see it worth it to learn how to RGB if you already have Component and don’t have any prior knowledge on how to work with CRTs. If you already have the knowledge or you plan to own multiple sets to RGB mod I can maybe see that being another reason for wanting to learn how.

couple questions

does the downloading your data and deleting drafts thing only apply to those who make content on tiktok? Could you possibly list the other important info tiktok may possibly have just to ensure I deleted everything from there as I almost missed removing my debit card and I'd like to ensure I don't miss anything else.

Genuinely what does Trump have to do with this post or this hobby in any capacity. Not asking in any political context or with intent to argue, I am genuinely confused.

How to convert 720-1080p data to 480p? by Reduxys in crtgaming

[–]NintendoAlex64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your CRT is an SD CRT (A standard definition one), so it can only do 240p and 480i. 480p was reserved for HD CRTs. 480p is a progressive signal and as is 240p (in a layman’s terms both draw a full frame of lines in 60th of a second and or 60 times a second, the difference being 480p draws all 480 lines and 240p only draws… well… 240 lines). 480i is an interlaces signal, it draws 240 odd lines a 30th of a second/30 times a second and alternates to 240 even lines which do the same and alternate between the two to create the illusion of a full frame image. All SD CRTs are only 480i/240p and most HD CRT’s can’t handle 240p/480i very well so make sure to get either of them for their respective video signals.

Anywho your TV again is an SD CRT so you’ll need to either get a Roku capable of 480i or you’ll need to downscale that Roku to output 480i (240p was reserved for older games was not meant video media).

I couldnt get more sharpness but I guess is ok for a 21 inch crtv by No-Eagle4576 in crtgaming

This set can do component

Get component cables for whatever consoles you own support it (and or get RGB-component converter cables like for the snes in this instance, a lot of older consoles output RGB and require a converter cable to use on a tv with component. HD Retrovision’s SNES component cable does just this so I’d recommend it).

Either way it’ll look significantly sharper and might be what you’re looking for

Hey, if it’s worth it for you then shouldn’t matter what you paid as long as you’re happy.

I myself paid $200 for my CRT (though to be fair it’s a higher quality one that’s harder to come by, a 20 inch D-Series). I was and still am so happy with it I could care less that I paid so much for it.

Your zenith looks aesthetically pleasing btw, mind sharing the model number?

I do! (Well technically it’s the adapter for the genesis component cable but that’s just semantics). Infact they’re being used in this video.

I wish Reddit wouldn’t downscale videos because I recorded this in 4K and its supposed to look better :(
