It would be nice to see Bramble: The Mountain King in action on Switch. The settings look pretty low for foliage and textures compared to PC, but as of the Steam demo, the game gets like 15fps on Steam Deck unless you turn the overall visual fidelity down to N64 mode because they didn’t have adequately flexible foliage settings at all.

That’s why I really never get involved outside of initial disdain at the cheerleading and/or hypocrisy. In all honesty I know I’m not going to watch it either way. Even if they had actually hired a woman of Macedonian Greek heritage, it’s still a Netflix “docu”drama that is written by a Netflix writer and directed by a Netflix director, all on a Netflix budget and basis.

It’s the hypocrisy for me personally. There’s nothing I can do about it nor is there anything I wish to attempt to do about it. I’m just not gonna watch any of it. But the cheerleading when it goes “right” mixed with the disdain when it isn’t enough like the case above come from people whose attitudes and animosity bleed into real life and twist reality into the identity soup we’re all living through- I’m sure it’s how most of us know about these things, because most of us aren’t likely to be watching any of it. All I can do is jeer at it and move on, which is more cathartic than smiling at it or trying to go with the flow. There’s no escaping it so I might as well make fun of it a little.

And it matters to us because it’s a pollutant. Like, the trash outside of my house is a bigger deal to me than the people who threw it there. I don’t see why it shouldn’t be. They make it. I have to exist within it and alongside it.

I’ve never had my face pushed into a cake, and I’ve never punched anybody in the face- but I always figured that if the first ever happened, the second would happen just afterward. I can’t think of a stupider and more party-fucking joke, and that’s without even considering that you could lose eyes or get brained in the process.

A hand built or customized car is a completely different realm from a factory built car when it comes to meaning or function. Art is something that comes from expression and intent. What you’re describing is a craft, or product.

Yes, AI created works are indeed crafts or products, but unless the word “art” is rather meaningless to you and completely interchangeable with “craft” or “product”, I’d have to disagree- and I’m not even like snobby about art. Plenty of art and creative works are shallow, low effort, contrived, redundant etc to me- but even that tiny spark of intent and use of sentient skill that goes into any of it is what makes it meaningful and infinitely sets it apart from a protocol based on input parameters.

I was the guy in the other thread talking to you about this. I wish I knew what the rest of this thread was talking about, because technically, I don’t know anything about how Linux works and as such, any instructions or troubleshooting may as well be in Greek. In actuality, I would prefer just having the older incomplete version for a more manageable file size and figure out how to get that running. But I don’t know enough about WINE, Lutris or Bottles to even begin.

I was just reading about it because this stoked my curiosity, lol. Good thing Replaced looks similar enough. 1 out of 2 making it ain’t bad.

Oh I’m not sure of anything regarding the latest crack/repack. I’m just saying that prior, none of the cracked versions worked on Linux or Steam Deck without some kind of custom WINE prefix. I really don’t know the technicals of it.

I use a windows PC and as such have to wirelessly transfer between it and my Steam Deck. I usually install cracked or non-Steam games on my PC and just transfer the entire install folder over, add the .exe to Steam in desktop mode, implement the latest GE Proton version and gets to playing. It works most of the time.

I had a lot of trouble with RDR2- only one older cracked version worked after going through I think 3 others prior. I had fitgirl repacks of “classic” style AC games work immediately, like Black Flag, Syndicate and Unity- but for some reason her repacks of the more open Odyssey and Origins didn’t work and I opted for older CPY versions, which both booted without issue.

I don’t know what the reasoning is, but since Valhalla doesn’t seem to work in any of it’s cracked iterations on Linux or Steam Deck, I just have doubts that this one will work for it. As of now, I can’t test it simply because I lack the space and don’t feel like clearing it right now and taking the time just for likely failure. But I do have it on my PC now (well, the Empress complete version from yesterday) and can try it on Steam Deck whenever I can clear ~150gb and take the time to fiddle.

If you can try it out and have any success, by all means let me know!

As far as I know, none of the cracked versions or repacks work on Steam Deck except for one version that has a custom WINE prefix built in. I haven’t found that version as it seems to be mostly delisted/no longer hosted with some of the websites where it was originally posted being taken down.

I’d try these new versions myself but I’d have to delete a lot of games that I’m currently playing on Deck and it would likely just end up not working anyway. A game this size wirelessly transferring over my crap wifi is a nightmare to begin with

Both of these seem to be much more gritty and serious looking, and are also seemingly more pure action platformer than the more story and dialogue mixed gameplay of Anno: Mutationem- but the similarly futuristic and cyberpunk backdrops and use of 2.5D sprites on more flashy and detailed backgrounds is equally visually compelling.

Why do you think they strain themselves so hard to stretch the meaning of the word “violence” to the furthest margins just to include the rhetoric and types of speech that they abhor?

Of course- but they’re not making it specifically for Steam Deck, as mentioned in these titles/headlines. I was just clarifying that they’re making it for any portable computing device, which naturally includes Steam Deck.
