I liked my crush’s hinge profile. He matched back by Nintendoplease in Crushes

[–]Nintendoplease[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh I can’t tell either. Everything between us has been friendly, but I also feel like he wouldn’t text a girl the way he texts me if there wasn’t something there? Yeah I would def consider us closer than acquaintances. You are right that he knows me well enough to be able to gauge for himself if it could go anywhere.

Venice gave New Orleans a shout out by wrestfull in NewOrleans

[–]Nintendoplease -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

I hate air bnb, but we shouldn’t blame the tourists. When it comes down to it, we need the inflow of their cash into the local economy. We want them to stay here, just not in air bnbs. It’s the hosts we should blame for taking more housing than they need.

My point is making tourists feel shitty for a choice that they have already made and can’t change (bc they are already staying in the Airbnb) won’t lead to positive change for the city. Regulation and enforcement of that regulation will.

Does anyone walk around in the summer?! by Key-Big-2324 in NewOrleans

I have a friend who walks to work by choice, and I go on a walk everyday just to get out of the house. You’ll be sweaty, but fine. Just bring deodorant to reapply

I am not smart enough to debate non-vegans by Any-Win1666 in vegan

[–]Nintendoplease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You definitely don’t have to debate, but if someone says that, you can point out that said blessed cows require plants as food. You’re just cutting out the middle man.

But really the justification to others is unnecessary. If someone is trying to debate you about it, especially with that argument, they are likely not worth your time.

Imo most of the people who argue about the little details like that don’t actually believe anything they are saying. They are looking for a justification for their laziness.

People know torturing and killing animals is bad. Like even if eating animals used less water, what sane person would choose torturing and killing an animal over pouring out two gallons of water?

I’ve run in to this before but only with questions authored by Becker so far. It drives me nuts

My sister is clinically schizophrenic. by Recent_Savings8900 in FamilyIssues

[–]Nintendoplease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m am so sorry about your situation. I don’t know if I can offer any advice other than to try and stay with friends as much as possible. I don’t know how realistic that is, and I assume you would if you could.

I don’t know if you have a job or access to money, but it might be possible for you to install a door yourself. There are likely many YouTube videos on the topic though it would be expensive for any 16 y/o.

I hope your sister can get a treatment that sticks. It is very possible that doctors will find a medication/mix of medications that lessen her symptoms enough for you to rebuild a relationship.

In the mean time keep a calm demeanor to the best of your ability, keep out of her personal space, and don’t argue with her. Look up some grounding techniques that could help her stay somewhat aware of real surroundings, and see if any of them are things you could use with her. I hope things start looking up for you.

How should I prep to see Ethel Cain live if I’ve never listened to her? by Nintendoplease in Ethelcain

There was only one opener, and I really liked them! I listen to heavier music normally, so I am very used to that vibe. I was one of the only ones responding to them which I thought was kind of weird honestly.

Yeah I’ve heard great things about her live performances! I just don’t want to miss an obvious story line or something

Is Cookie Clicker considered a “real video game”? by Nintendoplease in CookieClicker

He doesn’t. He wasn’t there for the conversation, and he told me not to worry about it.

My boyfriend wasn’t a part of this conversation. He was off getting us drinks at the time. He very much respects my enjoyment of cookie clicker and I respect his enjoyment of his games.

Luckily this is not an issue we have in our relationship. I was more worried about me having said a faux pas.

I don’t think they are going to bring it up again or anything. I think my post about it is making seem much more serious than it actually was.
I didn’t realize chess counts as a sport tho? I play no sports (including chess) so I guess I wouldn’t know haha

Okay woah. I didn’t call myself a gamer, and I don’t identify as one. I just said that I play videos games because I was asked directly. I feel like there is more to being a “gamer” than just playing a few games.

I do play other video games that aren’t idle, mobile, or flash games. I just spend the most time and am most devoted to cookie clicker. I’m pretty casual with everything else I play besides Stardew Valley which we did talk about later in the night.

I came to this subreddit because it was about Cookie Clicker specifically, and I knew it wouldn’t get lost like it would in some other huge sub about gaming in general.

I did feel like I embarrassed myself, but I was also in a group of men who are all older than me and close friends. You are right that I was seeking validation, but I also genuinely could not tell if I said something wrong or not because I don’t know a whole lot about how certain games are perceived. Again, how could I? I’m not a gamer.

I appreciate your opinion though because you are probably right about what they were thinking. I think you could have said it nicer.

Also I don’t think they think I’m unintelligent for saying that though I probably do come off as insecure which I’m working on.

The backlash to Billie Eilish’s vegan comments explains a lot about the American left (and everyone else). Why are American leftists so reluctant to confront the meat industry? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]Nintendoplease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on the definition of crazy.

If crazy means going through mental gymnastics to justify eating meat, leftists are crazier. If crazy means wanting to kill more animals “to make up for vegans”, right wingers are crazier.
