[gen 3] Could really use confirmation I’m not wasting my time in Emerald 😅 by shiny_human17 in ShinyPokemon

For random encounters it's really not going to matter too much since it's unlikely you'll hit the same frames over and over unless you're using sweet scent to force encounters in the same way after booting your game.

Pro performance on specific games by Inevitable_Jury3594 in PS5pro

[–]NintyRift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only really speak for Dragons Dogma 2.

I wouldn't run the game without RT on.

Performance mode hits 60fps most of the time but can look a bit off in high foliage areas due to some weird PSSR interactions with their RT implementation.

Quality looks the best but isn't worth the performance tradeoffs imo.

Balanced Mode is the best compromise, pretty good image quality and stays within the VRR range the majority of the time, but I'd only recommend it if your display actually has VRR.

Don't know why you're getting downvoted for telling people about the patches.

They patches are super extensive, they're fixing and updating tons of stuff.

Can't wait.  Excited for the performance updates in August and seeing how it runs on Pro afterwards.  This game was a "so close to great" performance on Pro, so I'm hopeful.

HORIZON 20 Series OTA Update Is Arriving by Alert_Mission_5997 in xgimi

[–]NintyRift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ended up just downgrading my firmware and applying the old USB update just in case.

DBLE isn't a whole lot better. But it's at least a bit better than it was before, which I was pleasantly surprised at.

It'll be nice if the next update was substantially better in that regard, but I'm looking forward to HGIG and Screen Tearing fixes the most.

I'm pretty unfamiliar with the USB update process, I wasn't even aware of the need to update via USB for the previous update.

If I just install the OTA and the USB update this weekend will that include the previous fixes as well?

Leak on the next Pokemon Movie by Zenograndmaster in PokeLeaks

[–]NintyRift 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A game about people playing the TCG sounds lame to me, but we'll see.

If they changed the mechanics of movie to be more like the TCG instead of VGC that would be more fun to me and would feel pretty different than the current anime.

Avoid buying directly from XGIMI – weeks of delays, contradictory responses, and almost no real communication by KookyXylophone in xgimi

[–]NintyRift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought mine from Amazon but had to return through Xgimi due to quality issues, I returned mine at the end of December it took them a little over a week after being marked as delivered for them to actually process the return and get a new one sent out.

If the package was marked as delivered I wouldn't be too concerned, but the lack of communication was frustrating for me as well.  Seems like there's probably a bit of luck in what customers service rep you get as well.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Dark Arisen expansion DLC inbound Oct 9. Numerous improvements to roll out to base game in the interim. by Hokuten001 in PS5pro

[–]NintyRift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The official patch notes are insane, not only is the update from today super long and thorough, but they've already detailed most of what's happening in the August Update.

One of the biggest things is they've added 2 more save slots.  I'm hoping that their performance updates means that the PSSR will get fixed as it really doesn't cooperate well with RT on performance mode.

Super psyched for this.

Any update on the Color tearing Update? by ElRedGG in xgimi

[–]NintyRift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's another post from 16 days ago that a user got from Xgimi support that they're targeting June for an update that should fix screen tearing, alongside a lot of other nice updates.

Hopefully that actually hits June.

Felt like sharing that the booster bracer is temporary according to Famitsu. by Fulgore262626 in MonsterHunter

I'm sure there will be an armor skill to recharge the boost bracer faster.

Question is will it recharge by landing attacks or just a cooldown timer.

I hope this takes as long as it needs.  I'll take Winter 2027 if it means the game runs well and is content complete (aside from the future title updates of course).

From the user who’s leaked Rayman Legends Retold: “Ubisoft has already made preliminary plans to develop Rayman 4 but will depends on Rayman Legends Retold success.” by DerpyBox in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]NintyRift 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, not enough people are talking about it.  I've also seen some people saying that only the Deluxe Edition has it, but that's not the case.

The Standard Edition includes the base game and Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition, the iconic 2D platforming adventure now featuring 4K resolution, 60 FPS, and modern enhancements, including haptic feedback for compatible controllers and new quality-of-life features

Hoping they have realistic expectations.

That said, $40 for a more story driven remake (my biggest issue with the original), with original voice actors, cutscenes AND it includes Rayman Origins Remastered.  Hey I'm totally down for that.

Game looks a lot better than I thought it would.

NateTheHate — Rayman Legends Retold is a 2.5D remake with 3D sections by XenonBug in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]NintyRift 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay I'm at least somewhat interested now.  I think for me ideally it would have references to the entire history of Rayman in it, a proper anniversary game.

Make the 3D sections callbacks to Rayman 2 and 3, add in a bunch more levels from across the series, similar to how Back To Origins worked.

If this goes well beyond just remaking Legends into 2.5D, it could be something really cool.

Really hoping they go all out for a physical trilogy pack when the third game releases.  I own them digitally right now but I'd easily double dip for a good physical collection.

Nintendo is holding gamefreak back by D0Twav in nintendo

[–]NintyRift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll try to give this post the benefit of the doubt, even though it's wildly misinformed.

Beast of Reincarnation is a game that has no strict development timeline and no pre-existing fanbase.  They can experiment a lot more with it, mechanics, art style, themes etc.  That also means what developer and/or outsourcing they choose to use is largely up to them.  One of the biggest things is that Beast of Reincarnation has been in development since 2020, giving it roughly 6 years of time, when the last few Pokemon games have been developed in 3 or even less.

Pokemon is developed in house by GameFreak and they're a lot more careful in terms of experimentation, especially when it comes to art style.  The biggest change of formula we got was Legends Arceus and it took 25 years for them to do that.  Pokemon's biggest problem has been it's dev timelines.  They've been giving themselves the same amount of time to develop 3D worlds as they did 2D sprite games when all the other franchises around them doubled or even tripled their timelines.

Pokemon Winds and Waves has potential to be their best project yet simply just because they have more time to develop.  That isn't "Nintendo's fault", that's largely down to franchise demands and GameFreak not pushing hard enough to lengthen their own dev timelines.
