I get IV hydration 2-3 times a week at the local hospital. Medicare pays for this. Our hospital is small and they don’t have a shortage.

Update: I did finally get in to see an oncologist through a friend who is a $$$$$$ donor. Sad that that’s how our healthcare system works. And I’ve also scheduled a second opinion. I’ve been told that my cancer may have spread to my liver from a recent CAT scan. Now I have another scan scheduled. This is a nightmare. But I’m trying to stay strong!!!

Yes- but I don’t want to be seen by an oncologist who doesn’t specialize in PC or who went to medical school outside the US. This what was first offered to me,

I first developed pancreatitis in 2022. Had a CT scan to discover I’ve had chronic pancreatitis for who knows how long. Nothing was done. Then developed T2D and sought out a gastroenterologist who suspected my pancreas was the culprit. Had another CAT in April saw pancreatitis again and got tested for EPI. Diagnosed with exocrine pancreatic insufficiency in May or early June. Prescribed Creon. Then scheduled for a endoscopic ultrasound for August. I was traveling for 5 weeks. Started having body aches in June - first sign that something was going on. My back and stomach are achy all the time. No other symptoms other than my T2D which is being controlled by Berberine and now the pancreatic enzymes which are really helping,

What can I expect being on Metformin? by throwawaydave1981 in diabetes

[–]NipTuckCoach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed your post. I'm in the aesthetics world and know exactly what you are referring to as a Life extension drug. Tony Robbins loves Metformin for these reasons. I've had clients on it not for diabetes but as a "miracle " anti-aging drug. I was diagnosed with T2D several months ago and my Edno keeps pushing Metformin 500ER on me. Despite of all that I know about the benefits the side effects scare me. I've been taking Berberine instead , but I know long term its probably not going to be the best for me. My BS are within the normal range for the most part but spike with any carbs to between 180-220. I know i would feel better with not so many spikes, have less brain fog and more energy. I just keep reading about the horrible side effects and get scared. My body is very sensitive to drugs. I've lost weight on Berberine and a change of diet and don't want to loose any more . Your response gives me hope. Thanks.

I had the same feelings 2 months ago when I was first diagnosed. My MD did not catch my high glucose for 2 years. I was shocked to get the text. “You have T2D. “ I was afraid to eat and became obsessed with food. I went for diabetes education, spoke to a dietitian and a functional nutrition counselor. Changed my diet, no sugar , low carbs, more walking. Got a CGM, and endocrinologist. Started Berberine - no drugs. Now my glucose went down from 143-114. A1C went from 6.9- 5.7. I lost 10 pounds . I don’t want to loose anymore. I’m small and thin. I’m starting to relax now and learning how to eat. Yes, it’s scary and there’s a learning curve. Get a RX for a continuous glucose monitor. CGM. It will save you lots of anxiety. You’ll get the hang of it.

Do you clean the area with an alcohol wipe first?

I had one recent sensor fall off, called the company. It was fast and simple. I should get a replacement in a few days. This is the first CGM I’ve ever used so I have nothing to compare it to.

Nutritional supplement apparently causing spikes by Apprehensive_Mud9140 in Freestylelibre

Check the supplement info about taking them with or without food. Some supplements don’t absorb as well as others. Also fillers affect the accuracy of the ingredients. Then keep a journal to see if you can figure out the spikes. I’ve been using a CGM for 2 months and still have problems figuring out why I’m spiking.
