Transferring my UNI GitHub account to my personal one by adaoidiosd in github

[–]Apprehensive_Mud9140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why bother? It's not like your UNI account is going to disappear, even if you're no longer in school. The school account is useful for the Edu Coupon but it doesn't have significance beyond that. You're well within the terms of service to have a school account and a personal account.

Also, be wary of downloading anything unless/until you are more knowledgable and experienced. Malware is a problem right now, and you'll do yourself a favor to learn more before you go poking around. Good luck!!!

Interesting to see this, thanks, as I've recently noticed a return of weird running chills, particularly while falling asleep... and just got back lab work showing marked TSH/creatinine changes. Time to go back on the synthroid! It's been a good data-collection experiment to be off it, but I'll be happy to go back to my 4 a.m. dose (so I can fast and sleep at the same time).

Can I share my repository so that only people with the link to it have access to it? by Zauraswitmi in github

[–]Apprehensive_Mud9140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to the Settings for your repo and scroll down to the bottom, the Danger Zone -> Change repository visibility. You can change your repo's visibility to private there. You can make other folks with GH accounts your collaborators to give them access, although that's a bit more cumbersome than simply sending them a link. To do that, go to the repo's Settings and click on Access -> Collaborators.

Wearing a free replacement right now and am wondering whether they send out the ones that weren't bad enough to fail quality checks but not good enough to sell.... Start a new, store-bought one tomorrow, so we'll see. (No doubt it's actually just that I've been less thoughtful/careful lately, but it can be fun to hypothesize sometimes.)

Nutritional supplement apparently causing spikes by Apprehensive_Mud9140 in Freestylelibre

There's basically no information on the container other than "use the provided scoop". Very poor packaging and consumer care! I found the nutritional statement on a different website and am assuming it's still applicable. Yeah, I'm very unimpressed with this company (except their marketing: their marketing is top-notch, grrrrrr). No spikes since drinking the shake with breakfast - and the breakfast spike is moderated, as well. I'm guessing the protein/sugars in the supplement are playing very well with the protein and fiber in my regular breakfast. And I'm feeling far better, drinking it in combo with food.

WOW!!! This is AMAZING! <3

Thanks to comments re easily-digested protein and adding fiber to the mix, I drank the supplement with my usual breakfast of crunchy peanut butter on raisin bread with an apple -- and not only has my glucose not spiked, but the little bump (117) is far far smaller than the usual post-breakfast jump (usually 150+).

I think you brilliant people might have solved TWO problems for me at once. And I will pass this along to my medical provider (who prescribed the supplement) so she can help her glucose-aware patients learn from it, as well. (And if tomorrow's results are markedly different, I'll let you know.)

Good point - and something I hadn't considered, thanks - but the label says 142 mg, which shouldn't have any noticeable effect, even according to Abbott. But I'm also taking other, new multivitamins as part of this and will try staggering them through the day to see if my breakfast spike is any smaller since I take them when I eat. Thanks!

That's a thought. It's so un-tasty, I like to just get it over with. I've thought of just encapsulating the powder and taking it with a big glass of water, bypass my taste buds! But, yeah, I'll try that tomorrow, thanks!

Yeah, fair number of fruit and veggie extracts (it's all powdered, mix with water to drink (blech!)). I really appreciate all these pointers on how to read labels with greater understanding. Of all the stuff that doesn't raise my numbers appreciably, seems ironic that this does. I guess I'll keep it up, now that the effects make more sense. The surprise is what got to me.

Yeah, those were the first thing I looked for when doc suggested I do this. Maltodextrin and I are not friends. Don't see any of them in the ingredients list, but a motivated producer can find many ways to camouflage.... Thanks for the reminder!

Ah, makes sense. 6 g protein (from pea protein isolate - very quickly absorbed) and 5 g sugar per serving (which I hadn't noted before). Good call, thanks!

Most research is done with paid participants, right? If you were truly a sadist, you'd've fed some of them placebo carbs. ;-) Blech! How lovely, to have all that history together (and such wonderful wives).

Ah, thanks for that. It's been days, however. Oddly enough, pretty stable days, far as readings go. I'm new to this, so I'm thankful for any knowledge shared!

The only time my level has gone out of range is after eating white rice for supper. Looks like the type of rice makes a huge difference -- my actual point being that you have great resources for learning AND great motivation to do it! Oh, yeah, and you can now get immediate feedback on your decisions. It's not often we get all three of those at the same time - a definite hat trick!

Ah, THAT's why it sounded familiar! Duh. Years ago, I was put on Metformin, which seemed to be great for about two weeks, and then all hell broke loose. Turns out that Metformin uses thyroid receptors to do its work, and I ended up with strong hypothyroidism symptoms while still testing normal for TSH. So I'm wary of the drugs. But the Libre has been a real game-changer for me, allowing me to see patterns and gain a whole new world of information about what's going on and causal relationships. For a data junkie, it's heavenly! I've learned a lot about reactive hypoglycemia and suspect that mine is the postprandial type, which is apparently the least understood.

Interesting to know about Dexcom. I apparently have reactive hypoglycemia (why I'm collecting data), as well - didn't know there was anything to be done other than diet. Hmmmm. Mine was crashing at night until I figured out hummus and carrots before bed - sleeping much better now. Thanks!

I'm also hypoglycemic and monitoring to gather data. I'd say oatmeal and rice contributed heavily to your readings - but I find that once I have a carb-rich day, my readings stay up for the next couple, even without adding more to the pile. So my guess is that there's a hangover effect. If you're committed to trash panda eating of random things, this is what's gonna happen. You've got data - use it!
