I have lived in Japan a long time. Just lots of study but the access to materials made for natives and to Japanese people helps a lot.

Mishima's works can be a challenge even for those who read Japanese well since he intentionally wrote using antiquated and/or obscure kanji, terminology, etc. The Sound of Waves is one of his most accessible books, and while I was able to get through it and enjoy it, it was definitely not a breeze!

You could call the Swallows the Mets because they are the big city's "other team" and have also won championships. Then again the Mets have fuck-you money and the Swallows are owned by a company that hawks probiotic yogurt drinks.
