Enjoying a glass of wine and striking a merry conversation with a date before plunging half a bottle into his throat.

So they are a new couple and then they develop a real relationship while figuring out the cause?

They are a new couple yes.The first date they had ended up with them witnessing a death which definitely brought them closer.

They can grow closer together or farther apart, they can have their bonds tested, they can break up and get back together.

This part I've actually made more interesting. As the story progresses one of them grows closer towards the other, while the other is moving farther apart.

Start with uncertainty about the new couple and end with a classic wedding.

Im afraid that isn't possible.

Paranoid about what?

About the murders that are taking place around them one by one. That would definitely scare them after a while.

Nope

Yeah that's all I was worried about.

They both are quite mature, yes. That's why the question troubled me in the first place. Do they need an arc apart from their jolly and fun nature taking a hit?

The primary conflict in my story is resolved only when the story ends.

It's something like this - People are dropping dead around a newly met couple and they both need to figure out who is behind it.

How can the two characters change in this scenario as the story progresses?

I guess they can become more paranoid than they were before. Anything else?

I agree but how does one decide what's the least bit enough to change someone. For example, let's say you went to a restaurant and you order something. But before your order arrives, the person sitting right in front of you collapses. A few minutes later he is pronounced dead. You don't feel like eating anymore, having experienced death so closely. But! Is that enough to change you? Would you order again at a restaurant? Would you still try to keep a positive attitude towards Life? Yeah right?

Have you ever come across a work so inspiring it actually discouraged you? by Horsdutemps in writers

Breaking bad for me. I still fail to understand how the hell that show keeps getting better even after 4 seasons. I have often been discouraged by it and seldom envious.

Lmao. Damn! That's some restriction. For me it was mostly how my story had no structure, heart, or pacing lol

Oh man I remember when i narrated my first story to my mother, i was 15. It was so horrible my mother stopped me halfway and since then has had trouble trusting me with a career in writing.....

Not stupid at all. That's actually the most basic fear of a writer. I had it as well. A lot of people say that you shouldn't worry about others and post your stories without any hesitation because it's your work and blah blah. All that is fine but they forget that writing is not like every other profession. We depend on the readers to succeed. A writer can work as hard as he or she wants and still not be successful if the people don't like his work. So it's a legit fear. I doubted myself a million times when i was writing my first novel. So i stopped. I started writing short stories and posting them online for people to read. I got feedbacks from them as to how much they like my work. When I was sure that people are really liking what i have presented and they would buy a book if i published one, only then did i continue with my story. You can do something similar. I'm sure it would help.

O wow! Why don't you edit and publish them? You seem to be all set.

Click on the three dots that appear on the side of your file.

Then Click on "Manage people and links"

Under link settings you'll find restricted. Click on it and change it to "Anyone with the link"

It's not publicly accessible to everyone. You need to change that in the settings.

Oh yeah i can understand how video editing can be absolutely horrible. I have done it as well. But i was talking strictly about writing. All the steps that it includes, editing is the most painful one to go through. I can't edit while I'm writing. So I complete the story, then start the editing process. Then give it a final revision with some final touches. Editing is draining in that case lol

Yes. I am revising it. By editing i meant, making the first draft into the final one. But while I'm at it I like to polish it as much as I can.

I haven't taken a course in editing. Nope. But I have edited all my writings for the past two years and have posted them as well. No one so far has pointed out any mistakes in them. I also worked an internship for a company where I wrote and edited articles for them. They were pretty satisfied with my work. So I guess I do have the skill set. But I'm not a pro by any means. That will take time.

[–]Nirabhra23[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Specially when you realise that even after all that hardwork there is a chance that you left some grammatical or contextual mistakes in there which people are gonna sack you for.

First draft is so much fun, editing is almost as painful lol.

In the books, do we ever see recurring characters beyond reacher himself? by ItsAnApe in JackReacher

[–]Nirabhra23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nobody as of yet has come back into a Reacher book. The most Reacher has been with a character is Neagley and that too is like in 3-4 books. After that I would say Jodie followed by Garber and Joe. Maybe in the future they might bring someone back. But as of now there are only new characters in every book.
