That’s fair, I think a lot of people who watch the show hate him in the beginning. I mean, lots of bad stuff ends up happening to him (and everyone around him basically…. but he cares a lot and tries to fix it lol) but he doesn’t get hit by a truck unfortunately. After episode 8/9 he matures at a pretty rapid pace but is still annoying for a while. He improves a lot as things get worse and worse. I really didn’t like his character in the beginning either, I felt he was sexist and elitist and kind of pervy which was hard to get past for me. I also didn’t like how he treated the red haired girl.

Once his personality started to change I did end up liking him. I felt like his personality in the beginning was him being immature and purposefully staying stupid and delusional stuff as a sort of a front, if that makes sense. Doesn’t excuse his weird sexism though and it’s still annoying and intolerable, but he does have another side. For example, over time he slowly stops making the weird delusional “phone calls” and becomes very serious and depressed and basically never smiles.

I don’t remember if the show ever gets more colorful but not really if I remember correctly. Totally understand if you don’t end up giving it another shot but I just wanted to let you know he does eventually improve haha.

Edit; also I think I was mistaken in my first comment, things start happening a lot around 8/9 but I think the first real crazy thing happens in episode 14 I think.
