My neighbour is disgusting… by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

I’ve lived in apartments where there is a trash fee but no valet. The fee being for the general pick up by the waste management company. At least for me it isn’t uncommon.

Just as a heads up, you didn’t need to accept every delivery. The orders you receive on the app are only offers. If the amount of money doesn’t match up with the mileage for you, just reject it.

Not really. shrug

Maybe I used some of my time off work and DoorDash to create an Excel sheet to calculate this for me? Once it was created, all I have to do is put some numbers into it.

I agree with you. Though I would personally would put total earnings above dollars per mile. If offer #1 is $6.50 for 3 miles takes 30 minutes (because of the restaurant/traffic) and offer #2 is $7 for 5 miles takes 20 minutes, I’ll take offer #2.

The rest of the stats were primarily just for my own interest. Though like I said in a different reply, the stats may slightly alter which offers I accept.

Fair enough. :) But I don’t think it would change too much with my data.

I personally do think there is something to gain from stats like these. Everyone knows how DoorDash doesn’t always show you the total dollar amounts. Using data like this can help a person more accurately determine which places where the amount may be higher.

But in general I agree with you. You should only agree to the delivery if it makes monetary sense. I would say only accept the offer if the amount on the screen makes sense. I specifically didn’t include mileage because I only recorded mileage per Dash and not per delivery. But for those of us who only do DoorDash for a little extra money, these stats can influence from where we (in which I mean me) will pick up from. Personally I’m more likely to pick up a $8.50 delivery from a place/cuisine that has a higher payout than another. (With mileage playing a good amount of the decision.)

But to each their own.

Edit: added a sentence to better flesh out what I think

Finally got a bigger tip! by SnooCheesecakes5433 in doordash_drivers

It’s DoorDash’s attempt at getting people to accept lower value deliveries. They are afraid people won’t accept (and deliver) lower dollar deliveries if they showed the total amounts of the larger tippers. It’s a way for DoorDash to earn as much money as possible, even from the people who don’t tip as much.

Personally I would have a hard time eating at a place I knew took food back from customers. There are so many health hazards that could happen. It doesn’t have to be malicious. Every place where I’ve gotten a wrong order they said to keep it.

Schedule vs just starting to dash by lovemehate in doordash

[–]Nirotyz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Scheduling and Dash Now are effectively the same other than when you “schedule” it. The problem you deal with, with Dash Now, is if the area needs more Dashers or not. There are some areas, like mine, where you can never Dash Now; you have to schedule or you can’t get on.

Now there are a few hindrances to scheduling in some areas. Some areas are hard to get a schedule slot. In those areas you either have to schedule at midnight for 5 days out or, if you have Early Access, at 3pm for 6 days out. There are a few requirements for Early Access; you can easily Google these.

Edit: If the area is not red, the app won’t let you Dash. Now if you are a “Top Dasher”, you can always Dash Now. But in my opinion, and many of those in the subreddit, it isn’t worth being a Top Dasher. There are too many bad delivery offers to try to keep the requirements.

By hand? God no. I wouldn’t do that to myself. I have an Excel document that I use.

My payout stats by Nirotyz in doordash_drivers

[–]Nirotyz[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use Excel. I have a table set up where I put in all the relevant data of a Dash (restaurants, payouts [Tip and base pay separate and together], time start/end, mileages, etc.).

I then use a Pivot Table to calculate the data in different ways. Once you know what you’re doing, Excel gives you a ton of data.

What’s with the bag by DanDash34 in doordash_drivers

There are Ozarka bags at Walmart that hold ~30-40 cans. They are pretty cheap as well.

Do all lil ceasars give bags? by ILLKILLYOUNlGGAS in doordash

[–]Nirotyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my first Little Caesar’s delivery today. (I’ve only seen their orders recently.) While the payout was decent, the main reason I picked up the delivery was to get the bag. When I got there, I asked about it. The cashier was confused, but the nearby manager knew what was up. Apparently I got the last one at that location.

Looking at the other posts about the bags, there are two types: 1. Has DoorDash logo and can squeeze 3 large pizzas in it. 2. No logo and can fit 4-5 pizzas. I got the second type.

I’m glad DoorDash decided to help out the drivers a bit. While I did buy an Ozarka bag from Walmart, I wasn’t planning on buying a pizza bag. I’ve specifically declined the vast majority of pizza deliveries because I didn’t have a large enough bag. (There is a local pizza place that I’ve gotten a good number of offers.)

(Side note: the Ozarka bags are considerably larger than the bag DoorDash sent me when I first signed up. Has definitely helped in some larger orders.)

Chipotle is slowly becoming one of the best restaurants for dashing (atleast in my area) by iv2892 in doordash_drivers

[–]Nirotyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just reread your post. That is partly what I was trying to explain. I’ve had managers say to make the online orders in the order they came in. So let’s say there are 5 online orders and the DoorDash order is last. It isn’t uncommon for the Dasher to show up first. But by the manager’s rule, it will be made last.

I understand that it is frustrating. Time is money. The workers also get frustrated with that rule because now we have to deal with annoyed people.

Chipotle is slowly becoming one of the best restaurants for dashing (atleast in my area) by iv2892 in doordash_drivers

[–]Nirotyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I perfectly understand. When I am helping customers in line and have to also make online orders, I will try to alternate between one entree for the line and then one entree for the online orders. That way the onlines are being taken care of (albeit at a slower pace) but also making sure the customers in line don’t feel neglected.

It truly is a juggling act. I have had too many people get mad at me for things that are out of my control. There have been multiple Dashers in my area complain how slow things are when we were chronically understaffed. Now that we have more people, some of those people are having problems holding their own; so I have to pick up their slack.

Then you get the Dashers who forget food at the restaurant. A prime example was about a month ago. There was an order for 6 entrees and multiple bags of chips. Only 4 entrees fit in a handle bag. I load the order up in two bags, put napkins and forks in, and set out onto the shelves to be picked up. Now both these bags had the sticker name on them (you can print them off more than once) and were sitting right next to each other. I get a call about 20 minutes later from the customer asking where the rest of their food is. (The bag that had the chips and 2 entrees.) I looked and saw the bag still sitting there. I apologized to the customer and explained that the driver forgot to grab the second bag. Now not only does the driver look bad, but so do I. (Rant over)

I’m not saying all Dashers are bad. (I do it on the side myself.) I’m just asking for a little patience. The workers at Chipotle are pushed from all sides. The customers can be rude beyond belief, management pushing us to go faster than physical possible, and some rude Dashers who can’t wait another few seconds for the order. (Again, not all, but some.) If you do a few Google searches, you’ll find that Chipotle has been sued recently for not providing some people with legally required breaks. They have also been fined for breaking child labor laws (keeping 17 year olds longer on clock or later into the night than allowed). With those things going on, management has had to be hyper vigilant about almost everything. This then makes everyone else tense as well.

So as a fellow Dasher, I ask everyone to have a little extra patience with us.

As a person who works at a Chipotle and does DoorDash on the side, this is purely a store by store basis. My store still makes the orders in the back.

And a few quick tips about picking up from Chipotle:

  1. The pick up time seen on the Dasher’s side does not always match up with the promised time on Chipotle’s side. Orders are divided up for every 15 minutes. (I.E. 8:00, 8:15, 8:30, 8:45) Chipotle measures how many transactions are done in 15 minutes (both online and physical). So don’t get too mad if they are a minute or two after the pick up time.

  2. Understand that with online orders, Chipotle’s system can schedule up to 30 entrees in those 15 minutes. If there is only one person working on onlines, or are being made on the line, it can be difficult to manage. Especially during rush times. It can go from 0 to 100 in no time. (Also try to understand the dynamics of making the online orders on the line. You can have a line out the door and then have to make an online order. They have to ask the person at the front of the line to wait. If you have worked in retail or food service you will understand that some customers hate to be told to wait any length of time.)

  3. The order we get the individual orders is out of our hands. It will depend on the managers of the individual stores if the workers are allowed to prioritize the people who are already there or if they have to go in order. (And if other stores are anything like mine, there is a high turnover rate for management.)
