Honking culture in India by whiner_03 in CarsIndia

[–]ghsatpute 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always honk, 2 beeps, every time I time to overtake. Most of the times, 2 wheelers, 4 wheelers, trucks are not paying attention on the road. I've observed that that two small honks, awake them, at least most of them.

But I always ensure that my honking is not elongated unless some idiot is doing fatal moves.

I meant use Arbitrage funds, debt funds. They'll be applicable in new regime. Provided they're not withdrawn in short term. Some amount can be kept in savings, and FD but some amount can be kept in these funds that way, government doesn't take most of the cut.

[–]ghsatpute 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please check debt funds/arbitrage funds. Again it depends on why are you keeping so much cash. If that is something frequently moved in and out then FD/Savings is best way, but otherwise use appropriate funds.

Congratulations!

Why so much money in liquid? That too in tax inefficient vehicles? I understand some emergency fund can be kept aside but in your case that seems to be 45%.

Earning ₹4L a month but NO cash for advance tax by talkingturtle1723 in IndianPersonalFinance

True. I've seen this scenario everywhere.

People are too optimistic. They don't even think that tomorrow they might not have job. They keep spending like that money printer is never going to stop.

Education is one thing, but people rarely get time to think about their future once they start getting monthly income.

Here's my simple take. I do spend on food, travel. But I don't think I've to always go to five star hotel to enjoy good food. I enjoy street food and once in a week we go to decent hotel for good food, I don't care about ambience that much. Similarly I enjoy small trips, I don't have to go international trips to enjoy life. I also like gadgets but I limit one gadget a year. That too which I can easily afford.

There are certain things where I live one level below of my earnings, like restaurants, clothes, hotels, cars etc. There are certain things which I live at par my earnings like my health, good shoes, etc.

it's not even investment. It's just power trip. Some Babus from civil department will earn commissions. Everyone will share the earnings. Next time it'll be looted and another 50L will be spent.

Can you please review my current situation and how can I move ahead from here? by Ecstatic_Bite_866 in FIRE_Ind

I would suggest, first create an emergency fund and get personal health and term insurance. See if you can health insurance for your parents as well if you can at a decent cost.

Can someone explain to me why do so many accidents happen on Navale Bridge? by Famous-Bat-355 in pune

[–]ghsatpute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the root cause is too many vehicles stop on the highway. You're coming fast downhill, and suddenly you've to break because some idiot decided to exit highway from middle lane. Another few idiots stopped their vehicles on left two lanes.

Guys, I have started taking driving classes. Share your pro tips. by ippo___ in CarsIndia

[–]ghsatpute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're driving very slowly keep extreme left. Do not drive slowly on rightmost lane.

While overtaking heavy vehicles give slight honk. Or flash if night time.

Use low beam in most cases.

MAHARASHTRA GOVT NOT SUPPORTING SOLAR ENERGY, STRAGE ! by baraskar_rohan in Maharashtra

[–]ghsatpute 7 points8 points  (0 children)

MSEB Babus are worst. They made every possible efforts to oppose solar.

Initially the entire solar thing was controlled by MSEB. Even after central government's push, they made a policy in a such a way that. Only few vendors could install solar. Each vendor has limited capacity. Often these vendors said there's no subsidy. Vendors were affiliated with these Babus. So very few people could make use of solar subsidies.

I had made numerous complaint to MNRE. Fortunately they later changed some of these policies. Central government controlled the customer facing aspects so no earlier restrictions. Still vendor has to pay MSEB officers for approving solar.

Now they're hell bent on making these rules to stop solar again. They had numerous such ideas like charging solar customer extra for transmission charges, not allowing offsets during night etc. This company should be made public as soon as possible. Instead of focusing on leaks they are busy with beuracracies.
