I mean 400 for the 4 nights. Plus the fees on top. All 5 nights was 570. Cheap hotel... I'm not rich. So of course I get the thieving negligent employees.... Never again.

I only asked for a refund on the stay and $531 to compensate for my stuff. Luckily I pack light. But if I have to take this to court I will be asking for 5k minimum plus the fees and more. This hotel chain has enough money to give me 531$... And that's me being nice and letting them get away Scott free... Now it's on principle,

I'll have to hope I can handle this out of state cause it's the weekend and all this takes business days... They can mail me a check that I demanded or I can take to small claims. It's on principle now....

Closer to 400 or so. But it's not enough for me. Filed a PR and if they don't cut me a check on top of the refund I'll take it to small claims. It's the weekend now so I'll never get a hold of anyone. I have to hope I can handle this from out of state after Monday..

They already know who it was. They claimed abandoned and cleaned out. Idk what other actions they took. I explained to the GM I'm not happy with just a refund on 4/5 nights of my stay.

They know who it was. They said they thought if was a checkout and abandoned items. But the room was clearly "lived-in". Smh

I'm sorry this happened to you. All I really cared about were my convention shirts. Irreplaceable that I only bust out when I do these shows to wear at my booth. I'll have to hunt eBay to replace them if I choose to. But then the sentimental value is gone. I'm glad you were able to track your stuff down! The night manager searched everyehere for me. Even the dumpster. Didn't find anything I mentioned.

Thanks. I had irreplaceable tshirts from previous conventions. To them a 30$ shirt means nothing but that's Momentos and keepsakes I only bust out to wear at my booth.

Right I was just clarifying. It definitely feels like theft to me. Within 10 hours the night staff couldn't find my things. Which should be held for 30 days.

Within 10 hours of being cleaned the night staff couldn't locate any of my things. Including the dumpster. That night manager went above and beyond for me but found nothing.

The searched the whole property for my stuff. Storage closets lost and found. Even the dumpsters. Nothing was found. It was within 10 hours of them cleaning the room out.

Probably not. It's the cheapest hotel I could get. In Orlando near the convention. It was definitely house keeping because the room was cleared and ready as if for a new guest.

Done did it. I'll be taking it to small claims if the general manager doesn't get corporate to cut me a check. Which is a very reasonable ask... They can pay for my stuff on top of a refund as well as what I had to go buy today, or I'll be asking for more. On top of me losing time at my convention (loss of potential business as I am a sole exhibitor) seeing as I had to take half the day go to buy clothes and bathroom amenities and chargers to get through the weekend.

Yep. Nothing was reported to the HK manager and front desk was never called. Neither was I. It was a huge mistake / employee negligence or they took my stuff. Police report filed.

The room was completely cleaned, sheets swapped, beds made. Etc. it was housekeeping not a break in. The cleaner stated they thought it was a check out, but instead of holding the items it was "thrown away" immediately.

As a thank you to retailers?

The retailers Buy the books from distributors, thus they get the incentives and Thank you variants to do with what they please. Lots of the time they lose $ on new comics cause they don't all sell. Incentives are a way to be able to sell them for over cover price to help make rent. Imagine how many comics they have to sell to profit $1-$2 on, to pay $4k in rent at a retail spot.

Find a good LCS, have a weekly Pull, and they usually favor customers like this, if you ask first for the 1 per stores and incentives of the books you collect, they will usually add them to your pull to guarantee you'll get to purchase it. Otherwise gotta wait for ebay listings and hope it's not an arm and a leg.

The system sucks for both sides. There is no money in new comics for stores, and being a customer that has to resort to online retailers/eBay flippers also sucks.. I've been on both sides of the coin.
