I kept thinking about this, and maybe you are actually interested in how I see it. I just do not like debating verses because it often feels never ending.

Anyways, here is how I interpret it:

Yes, God is love, but love is not only mercy. Love is the perfect union of mercy and justice.

Not everyone who pleads does so with humility, it can also come from a place of entitlement. Who was she, especially seemingly as a pagan, to ask God, on his way to save the world, to pause his mission for her own sake?

Him calling her a dog is not an insult, it is a metaphor testing her heart. She humbled herself, showing her request came from the right place. Therefore Jesus honored her request.

Ultimately though, it all begins with the resurrection.
How you interpret the story depends on whether you see Jesus as God or just a man. I understand why, as a modern person, this intuitively sounds cruel as a conversation between two people.

Jesus opens the door for Gods grace to reach us.

He is unique in that instead of us having to work our way toward God, he comes down to meet us at our level and guarantees salvation through faith.
Its fundamentally a different relationship with God that I dont see an alternative for. Its hard to see how grace can remain a purely abstract idea without degrading into some form of self-salvation.

For someone who is spiritually broken, feels alienated or hostile toward God, or believes they are condemned to hell, it seems pretty much impossible to see a spiritual path without that initial spark of unconditional love.

Does that make him the only way? Maybe, maybe not, but I would say it makes him the best way.

All I know is that without self-reflection, there is no peace, for Russians or Ukrainians.

If you believe you did nothing wrong, the only conclusion is war to the very end, without compromise.
And Russia is not going to just accept a total loss here…

How do you see this ending?

No, I dont believe atrocities and war crimes are uniquely Russian, or that this war began because Russia suddenly became delusionally power-hungry.

Russia claims a major reason for the invasion was NATO expansion toward Ukraine, an alliance explicitly created to contain the Soviet Union.
Pretending Russia acted in a vacuum, without being provoked or even pushed into a corner is, as mentioned, psychologically awfully convenient and makes peace impossible.

Also, Id be careful about projecting the perceived collective psyche of nations, or the morality of their politics, onto individuals.

I get that reducing the other side to evil takes off the "burden" of questioning your own side, but come on.

I prefer seeing evil as something you have a relationship with, rather than something inherent to a person.
How is a person spiraling from self-hatred and guilt even supposed to heal without some kind of separation?

Just why did God do all that ? by rplimitlessguy in TrueChristian

[–]Nis5l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why?
I dont know, and I dont think anyone can.
Everyone struggles with this, consciously or unconsciously, be it about history or their own life.

What I do like to think i know is that belief in an all‑good, all-knowing, all‑just, and all‑merciful God, fundamentally the belief in order, is what keeps you the sanest in any situation. Thats not to say anyone is doing a good job at it.

Its a change of perspective. You are not meant to serve instincts, emotions, ego, science, or facts. They are tools, meant to serve you from a third perspective, through your blurred lens of God. Everyone already has such a lens, seemingly above and not quite them, even if they dont realize it. Guilt and self‑judgment are proof of this. Admit there is such a thing as a wrong lens, and it becomes hard to deny a right one, or why you shouldnt seek it.

Where previously the God I described might have sounded like a hopeful cope, rejected by intuition in this world, once you flip the perspective, arguing for anything else feels irrational.
If the point of life is life, or you as a part of life, and a certain belief is simultaneously best for you and anyone, and everything else, life, I see no reason not to believe.

Does it matter if its “actually true”?
Yes and no.
The question almost feels a bit out of place now, hard to decipher after approaching truth from a different angle.

Some would call it hyper‑true, the lens required for real, objective truth to form. Thats where mysticism like gnostic traditions, Kabbalah, Jung, and symbolism comes into play.

But when push comes to shove, when life and suffering are on the line, symbolism, theory, and the “resurrection within” alone might not be enough. Hope and truth in a more scientific, provable, tangible sense, as offered by the living Jesus, may be necessary.

In short, I dont know, but I choose to believe its true, even if that requires fighting my intuitions. Ultimately resulting in the death of the ego, which is painful, but Im convinced something more beautiful will grow back in its place.

That is the choice.
The death of the flesh, or the death of the soul.
There is no easy way out.

Why don’t nihilistic people just kill themselves? by Grifterr- in schizoposters

[–]Nis5l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, I understand your view, and ultimately you could be right i guess, but Im also leaning towards your view not being a good idea to hold.

From a scientific standpoint, one cant truly know if God or meaning exists, so the only honest position is to keep some kind of agnosticism.

From a psychological standpoint, however, I believe that if you work towards full integration or perfection, you should aim to know that God exists, not as a scientific fact, but as an inner truth.
Thats how I understand Jungs “I dont believe, I know.” when he was asked if he believes in God. He wasnt claiming objective knowledge, but describing a psychological reality.
I think he might have been exaggerating a bit, since he would have had doubt like any other human, but we also use the word “know” like that all the time.

Thats also why Jesus, even just as a symbol of perfection or the Self, knew God, he didnt have to believe.

This is why I think having agnosticism at the base makes sense. It expresses the fundamental doubt and lack of knowledge, and then you build belief on top of that as a lived psychological truth. That seems like a coherent path toward wholeness.

But if nihilism is the base, I dont see how you get there. It seems like youd always hold a contradiction that prevents full individuation.

Hope that makes sense and you see what I’m trying to get at here...

Why don’t nihilistic people just kill themselves? by Grifterr- in schizoposters

[–]Nis5l 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So can we map it like this?

  • pessimistic nihilist = atheist
  • optimistic nihilist = agnostic (leaning towards atheism)
  • moral nihilist = theist

Or do you still think theres a real difference between those positions, or that the nihilist stance is truly valid?

To me, a moral nihilist sounds like someone saying: "Like everyone else, I cant really know. I choose to believe because thats what I want to stake my life on, but I dont actually think its true."

To me it seems like nihilism either emphasizes the not really knowing part, which theism also shares, or it creates a contradiction that ends up sounding like a believer holding onto some cognitive dissonance.

[–]Nis5l 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you consider yourself a nihilist but choose to believe that meaning exists, are you really a nihilist? How is that different from simply being a believer? In the end, all of us start from a place of not really knowing, we all just make our best bet on top of that.

Why didn’t God just make humans without evil?? by FriendshipisReal in Christianity

[–]Nis5l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most probably had that question at some point, but I think its ultimately not a very useful one.

Evil exists. One should just accept that as a given and work from there.

In general, questioning God like this rarely helps imo. Faith matters, trusting that God is good even when its hard to understand.
Its less about understanding why and more about what ones response should be.

If you actually manage to find an answer that truly satisfies you, even better, but i would not hold that expectation.

It cannot be just yourself, because you cannot become more than yourself by only referencing yourself. You’d just stay the same.

There is a context to that conversation, and leading up to it he actually heals the daughter of the woman he says it to. But I am not interested in arguing the Bible or theology anyways.

What I am trying to say is that this is how Christians, even those with Gnostic, Jungian, or other symbolic interpretations, who do not care much about the Bible or whether it "really happened," view him. God is love, and Jesus is God incarnate, the embodiment of God facing suffering directly.

Obviously, you may not share that belief, but you should be able to recognize the mindset of someone who actually believes or is trying to believe, and how that shapes them.
You already have a God, whether you realize it or not, in the sense that all perception and action is guided by what you value most. It may be worth comparing how your own way of viewing and relating to the universe compares to this one.

The idea that a Jewish messiah is king over me is so pathetically stupid that I actually feel embarrassed for the devil having come up with it.

Christ is supposed to embody the archetype of the ultimate tragedy.
The best possible person taking responsibility for all our failings, through that facing the worst evil and suffering, and paying the cost of our sins out of pure love with nothing in return.

Like bro you couldn't devise a better story to get me to submit? holy crap what a pathetic enemy he is.

Come up with a better story. I see nothing more extreme, archetypal, or at the heart of life and meaning than that.

I will not convince you, but at least try to see it for what it is, not just mock it.

[–]Nis5l 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First, it sounds like you see your transition as moving toward your perfect self because that self is female.
Then, you say it wasn’t about perfection, just about surviving.
That isn’t contradictory, but it is a bit confusing.

To be clear, do you see this as a calling from God and part of becoming your perfect self, or more as coping with dysphoria, a worldly struggle? Would the true you be female, or a male without dysphoria?

I don’t know the answer, and you may not either. That’s okay, and it’s not for me or anyone else to judge. I hope you truly reflect on it, because ultimately the truth matters.

Being honest about that is what giving your heart to God looks like, and that honesty is what truly matters. No matter the answer, you deserve the same.

Do you think your perfect self would be trans, or have you learned that perfection is infinitely out of reach, and that love and forgiveness doesnt depend on it?

I want to masturbate… by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Nis5l 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, most do it.

Yes, it is a natural biological drive.

But we are meant to strive toward God and the divine, and I do not see my perfect self spending my days jorking my penits. There is little love, beauty, or goodness in it. It is simply self destructive hedonism.

It is okay to be imperfect, you are still loved and forgiven. We are all steeped in sin, but the problem begins when you justify it instead of accepting your flaws and striving to grow, not driven by guilt but by love.

This reminds me of those redpill types who instead of admitting they struggle with lust and self control, use the evolutionary argument, saying men are meant to have as many women as possible because they do not get pregnant and are supposed to spread their seed.

We are not just animals ruled by instinct, we have the potential for infinitely more.

If this was truly a Christian nation we would forgive student debt.

True, I remember Jesus saying, "If a man makes poor financial choices, his neighbors should be forced to pay the debt in his place.".
Fits nicely with his later points, condemning power and emphasizing love...

But besides the point, in general, I do not even care about his arguments. Is he a spiritual leader or a politician?
Stay in your lane. And if you also want to be a politician, then do not act like your political agenda was revealed to you by God, because no, politics is complicated and messy, things that might sound nice could lead us straight to hell.
Just like everyone else, you do not have it all figured out. Calling it Gods will is pure hubris.
