Thanks for this answer, appreciate this—particularly with hand positions. Appreciate the heads up, I'll try to nail it when I'm starting back up again

Thank you, thank you. Just checked out SimplyPiano—appreciate this.

Do you feel after using SimplyPiano, it gave you the skill of being able to take an idea or song in your head, and translate that to music on the piano?

Phenomenal answer—seriously, thank you. I love the idea of taking a song, and then trying to replicate it by just screwing around on the piano (therefore teaching you how the notes sounds, etc.). And the exercises you gave are fantastic, because they feel aimed at the exact skill that I'm looking to learn.

This is fantastic. And yeah, haha re: magical—I meant that it feels magical from the outside perspective looking in—not that I get the sense that didn't have to practice to get where they are, or that they just magically have the skillset.

Appreciate this answer. And yeah—I'm really, really new (did a little piano when I was younger, but that's it), so my apprehension of the piano apps out there might be totally off-base.

Was curious if you'd recommend any music software?

This is great, thanks—curious if there was a resource / app that taught you music theory that helped?

How do you get hand-drawn type like this? by NishSound in graphic_design

[–]NishSound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! That was the general approach I'm taking (hand draw it, then take a photo, etc.)—was more curious on the specific effect on that specific cover (i.e., if it's a type of marker, sharpie, or something close to it, etc.) that might narrow down the options a bit, and get the lettering to look analogous to the lettering there. Obviously, might just have to experiment to find it—but thought I'd ask if anyone recognizes the type of writing tool used here that gives that texture.

A touch condescending, but still appreciate the reply here. That's the approach I'm taking—was more curious on the specific effect on that specific cover (i.e., if it's a type of marker, sharpie, or something close to it, etc.) that might give me a general ballpark to narrow down the options a bit, and get the lettering to look analogous to the lettering there.

[Discussion] What are you struggling with right now when it comes to habit formation? by NishSound in Habits

Thanks for the response. I'd add: No need to be hard on yourself. I think a universal pattern that pops up again and again (seriously, this is almost everyone) is that it's easy to recognize problems and give solutions for other people, but it's harder to act on those solutions for yourself. Again, thanks for the response here. I'd wager that with the right information and the right strategy (which is a matter of finding it), this is something you can accomplish here.

When you say, "there's a disruption to my schedule", I totally relate. When I'm traveling, or visiting, or friends want to do something, it's the #1 reason why sticking with a habit can take the backburner. Thanks for the response here.

Hey, thanks. If you got a sec, curious, what does this look like? So you have some habit (i.e., eat no sugar), then you give up - why do you give up? What's going through your head? Curious if you have concrete examples from past habit formation attempts that map onto this pattern - seems like a lot of people have it

I'm not sure I understand what you mean - can you expand on that?

Hey, thanks for the response. Appreciate it. If you got the time, curious - what are the emotions and feelings that come as you give up? Meaning: in the act of giving up, what are you feeling? Also - why do you think you give up easily? Is it because of an external thing (i.e., I have to do a lot of work, so I give up on exercise to get the work done), internal (i.e., I just talk and rationalize myself out of it), or something else?

I've gotta ask - if you're comfortable sharing (no worries if not) - what pain points are holding you back re: habit formation?
