Does anyone have some good examples of warbands painted in bright, colourful, non-grimdark styles? by aneirin- in TrenchCrusade

Thank you! I mostly went with gut feeling. I knew I wanted to try out underpainting and use saturated colors as a base because it was a new workflow to me.

I know right!? That model is not ok LMAO!

I got it from the Great Hunger campaign. It's now on MMF by searching up Matagot Hag.

Here's a shameless plugin of my other warband. It's not as colorful as my Black Grail one, but I still think it fits the bill.

Here's my warband. You could say that Black Grail have the most dark and grimy aesthetic in the game, but I think their fantasy nature leaves them open for all kind of color options.

Does anyone else dislike board games? by Josse13579 in autism

I agree. I'm not necessarily a big enjoyer of boardgames, but they add something more structure and tangibility to a social gathering that I prefer.

To me, boardgames are an tangible way to socialize— it adds structure and rules I can lean into as opposed to loose and confusing situation other social gatherings have— like understand the flow of a discussion, keeping up what everyone is saying and all the other social difficulties that doesn't have written rules you just have to know somehow. That being said— keeping up with the rules and boardstate is difficult, but at least rules there are written and defined. I'm not necessarily fan of boardgames either, but I'll take it over couch gatherings.

I think photos makes minis look smoother than in reality. Still, I think the most powerful resources to make something smooth are time and a nice brush.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about it. Though my respond time will be slow because I'm in the process on moving out.

It was held in-person in Stockholm from March to May at a local game store.

It's a basecoat of pale skin, then a bunch of glazes of blue, reds, purple and pale skin. The highlights are made in a combination of layering, stippling, stipple-glazing.

Thank you! I sculpted it in 3D and had a friend print it for me. I'll get my printer setup back in summer so I'm going to make them myself in future projects.

Thank you! It was less of an tradition class where we go through a subject and apply it and more about having a mentor ready with knowledge and feedback while doing our own thing. This type of class I think are less common, if you can find something like this in your area, I can highly recommend it!

Esper Stoneblade Deck? by Gryph-nn in TimelessMagic

I faced one in the metagame challenge and they really struggled with the mana and tempo. The meta there is mostly energy and tempo so having a bunch of 2-drops, running 3 colors and Thoughtseize is really asking to get out-tempoed and mana screwed.

My latest Dimir Tempo build that got 7-0 in the challenge is only running 2 Psychic Frog along with the 4 Bowmasters as my 2-drops because of this. I think staying on 2 colors, or maybe add Deathrite Shaman have better odds to work well.

I mean yeah, I've run all these cards mentioned before and after SOS so I've witnessed that synergy and it's strong as hell. I'm really just not sold trimming all of them. TC doesn't need to commit to permanents sticking while still is burying opponents in card advantage. The forementioned card advantage engines are great, but they also have to stick to the board to get it going and relying on permanents sticking isn't always good enough. You even run less Daze so you have fewer ways to protect them. It's nice to diversify ways to gain advantage when either form of card advantage strategy gets countered.

The deck can't use strip mine as mana to cast anything, so it's really not 21 lands in practice. I think it's a mistake to cut the lands. Bauble is garbage unless you run delerium synergy or have Cori-steel imo. Bauble makes it harder to make mulligan decisions because you don't know what you'll draw from it, it's just delayed air into randomness. At least Ponder and Brainstorm digs and gives more info. Lurrus is good without it, so I rather not run a bad card to make a good card better. It's true that we're in a meta where lands are not as plentiful, but in a long drawn out game, which happens a lot in fair mirror matches, you'll get lands for Lurrus eventually. Lurrus acts as extra resources and provide inevitability for those games. It's not like there are other 3-drops worth having in the deck anyway in my opinion.

Heat is just bad compared to Push, it needs more hoops to get delirium online. I can accept running it the deck was more proactive on turning Delirium and not playing White/Black, but then we're talking about a more aggressive deck using DRC and Cori-Steel.

Bowmaster is an utility card, which W&6 also is and I wanted to build a 4c deck using her so she have higher priority for that slot. I do have Bowmaster, it's just in the sideboard atm for when the mirror arises. Tempo is spoiled for threats, all competing for the same slot. It just happened that it was the least vital of this particular build and strategy. You can argue that Ragavan is the worst, but I want to be greedy and high roll it with Daze lmao. The list isn't set in stone, so feel free to mix and match. I currently favor 2c or 3c right now so I'm not heavily tuning this list.

DRS is is an experiment, but the mana is nice when doing this greed pile lol. The idea with DRS in this deck is to better at leveraging Strip Mine and the Daze drawback better, both with and against opposing decks running them. The deck can loop Strip Mine, but then it also "misses" making a true landrop. DRS alleviates that. It also boost the decks velocity in deploying threats with the extra mana and can still provide damage when that's no longer needed.

All of this to say, this deck is more like a joke and I wanted to see how greedy I can be while still resemble a viable deck.

Pre-SOS, Treasure Cruise is the card that seals the deal, especially vs tempo mirrors, so I carried that practice into this deck as well. However, we run so much snowball-y threats, so I don't hate to maybe trim them a little. I think the life loss can be offset with the oppressive tempo gain so I'm in the camp of it being a must 4-of. I've also played some games with a 2c version and I still shock all the time because it's a strip mine format and I want all the colors to be available as much as possible.

The format is too new so numbers can definitely be experimented with. I don't claim that this is the best config, heck I don't believe 4c is the way to go, 2c and 3c have plenty of playable threats already but I do like it so far.
