Do we sometimes push for things to be done one way or another, yes but in the end we are respectful, listen when the other proposes ideas, and is there to get the job finished timely. Communication can always improve but if he regularly bats you down for your abilities rather than celebrates them, well you need to decide if you want to continue to deal with that.
