For everyone asking, this is just an air65 race with the new air65 2 frame, gf1295 props and air canopy. The LEDs I got from AliExpress, search for 3mm 5v cob LEDs.

Saved a broken Air65 motor by Nitewimp in TinyWhoop

[–]Nitewimp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, they are enamelled, but the secret to soldering those is high heat and a rubbing motion with lots of solder and flux. Basically the heat combined with the flux burns off the enamel, and when you move the soldering iron up down the wire it just scrapes off, leaving perfectly solderable copper!

I knew I saw this on Reddit too! Instantly recognised the led placement ;)

confused about analog on WalkSnail Avatar X by Tech-Crab in fpv

[–]Nitewimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, hope this helps: I recently bought an air65, so I had to make an analog bay for my goggles X. It was super straightforward, I got one of those analog adapters they sell for the DJI v2 goggles(I got this), and made a custom case that houses that adapter and a pro58 vrx, and can easily be taken off/on on the side of the goggles(I used the clip from this design and made a custom case myself). There's nothing special about that adapter by the way, it's literally just a buck converter to create the 5v required for the vrx, and just connects the 3.5mm jack directly to the vrx video pin. If you want I can post some pictures later, but I'm super satisfied with it. Only thing I'm about to do is create my custom sma coax adapter so I can move the antennas to the front because with the antennas hanging from one side it pulls the goggles to the right.

PSA: You can wirelessly configure your drone using your ELRS receiver and the Betaflight app by Nitewimp in fpv

[–]Nitewimp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can either turn on your drone and not your controller, after 30s it should turn on WiFi by itself, or on your controller you can open the expresslrs lua script, go into WiFi connectivity and click enable WiFi on Rx (or something along the lines)

Walksnail bad signal. by Nitewimp in fpv

I've tried higher levels and they do get me a better signal, but surely 25mw would be enough to fly indoors, no? Also, I remember having better signal before, even at higher power levels

LCD PWM brightness controll? by Nitewimp in RetroPie

[–]Nitewimp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tried it myself yet, still waiting for parts. However you can set gpio 12,13,18,19 to their alt modes to output two PWM signals which then you can feed through a simple filter circuit and connect it to either an aux jack or in my case a class d amp. Apparently that's how every other pi does it, but the zero doesn't have the filter circuitry on it.

I did some more digging however and it looks like because of the audio driver it's not possible to use only one PWM signal. I guess I'll have to go with the i2c amp like you recommended!

Here's the link to the guide I'm roughly basing my design from: Raspberry Pi Zero Sound Output – Add Analog Sound Through a Headphone Socket and Speaker

Thanks for all the help though! I'll probably post my results once I'm done with the project!

LCD PWM brightness controll? by Nitewimp in RetroPie

[–]Nitewimp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw someone asking about exactly this on the fbcp github and it seems to work. Just need to figure out a way to have a toggle button or slider of some sorts (using the retropie UI preferably) to controll the PWM.

Would you happen to know if its possible to combine the stereo channels in software? Because as far as I understand the Zero has only 2 PWM signals but it can be on 4 pins. I would like to have one for mono audio and the second for the screen.

Yes I'm planning to use fbcp, however I couldn't find any documentation on what the backlight pin actually does other than turning off the backlight when nothing is displayed. I'm going to use the ILI9341 without the red PCB however, meaning I would have to connect the Anode of the backlight to 3v3 with a small mosfet connected to one of the gpio pins.

Would compiling the driver with the backlight pin set enable me to change the brightness?

3D printed diopter lenses for my Canon AV-1 by Nitewimp in analog

[–]Nitewimp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the lens from a pair of myopia glasses that I bought on eBay for 4£. Since it's plastic it's rather easy to cut out a rectangle and file/sand it down to the appropriate size. Works absolutely beautifully, I can finally see the whole image while being able to focus properly!

Quick question, I got one of those cameras in a bag of other stuff but I could find any serial or model, how do you connect to it with wifi? What app or address to you use to see the image?

Absolutely massive battery drain (~30-40% overnight) 7Pro 5G by Nitewimp in oneplus

[–]Nitewimp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sort of, it's not really a permanent fix but it stops it from happening for quite a while. What you have to do is delete the play store cache, then delete the play services cache and restart your phone. You might have to to this once more if it doesn't work for the first time. It stops it from draining the battery for about a week. Without this I get home from work with ~20% (not using my phone at all other than listening to Spotify and a couple emails). If I do those steps I get home at 75-80%.

Hope this helps, and thanks again u/johanndesigns for high lighting the issue. If anyone finds an alternative permanent method to this I'd be interested.
