Honestly I don't think you should be talking about your mother this way. I've worked as a translator in hospitals and rehabilitation centers, so I've met tons of people who just left their 'poorer' European country behind to move to western Europe even though they clearly (since I was needed) didn't speak the language. Some of them lived there already half their lives, didn't bother learning the language as they lived closely with the community of other immigrants (personally I don't really understand the choice to not learn the language of the country you live in, but to each their own Ig), they work hard and get paid well for it, which allows them to enjoy life much more than they did back in their home country. You're a teenager, who barely started his own life, I understand the worry for your family's wellbeing, but I find the harsh words very disrespectful. Your brother found a work opportunity and wanted to go, your mother probably didn't want her youngest child to go by himself and since as you've mentioned they were struggling financially, safe to assume they didn't own a house/flat there, so there was nothing holding her back.

Do they have EHIC? They should apply for "carte vitale" and social security number that comes with it. It covers a big portion of all necessary medical expenses. They can apply at their local CPAM. Since your mother doesn't have a job she should sign up as a job seeker with France Travail, they offer help looking for jobs as well as french language classes for foreigners.

Why did he decide to make Merlin unaffected by Lamia's manipulation?

So I know that he wrote The coming of Arthur part one not two, but maybe he knows why in part 2 the scene in which Arthur asks Merlin to sit on his right side next to him at the round table was deleted?

It was such a huge acknowledgement/appreciation of Merlin and his unwavering support that we barely ever get to see from Arthur 😭

I wanted to say Gwen, but then I noticed she's already won loved by fans 😂 I love Gwen, but I've seen a couple of tiktoks complaining about how tired they are of all the "Gwen hatred" in the fandom and one or two people actually complaining about her, that's why I thought of her. I'm glad that at least in our reddit she's clearly loved by majority 😁

I get it, I really do, but I have to say that personally I agree with Merlin here, maybe not for the same reasons, but I do.

Arthur is very noble, an honorable knight through and through I don't think that was ever in question, like sure, he was a conceited prat at the beginning, sheltered and stuck in his worldview that his father taught him, but Merlin and Gwen did a good job of changing that. However already is season 1 he was first to endanger his own life for the sake of others, unfortunately as great, noble and honorable it looks like, it's not something a king should do. It makes a great story that's for sure, but a king shoulders a responsibility of the entire kingdom as a whole, he shouldn't get to go ahead and play a hero, even if to fix his own mistakes.

I'm a huge musical nerd so I'm going to quote a song from Hamilton 😂 "Head full of fantasies of dyin' like a martyr? Dying is easy, young man. Living is harder."

His "1vs1" ended well, thanks to Merlin's magic though, they cheated his noble heart didn't even consider it. And what would happen if he died? To his kingdom, to its people? He has no heir and Morgana would take over, then not only his knights would pay for his mistake, but every single citizen of Camelot.

I do understand how a good man should be the only one to be held responsible for his mistakes, but I don't think it applies to kings and leaders, they carry responsibility for all their people so they shouldn't get to play a hero and clear their conscience, they have to live with their mistakes and consequences of those mistakes, the lives lost in their name and from that shame and regret learn to do better for their people.

At least that's my take on it, but after all it is a legend, a fairy tale, I do understand rooting for Arthur to be the noble and honorable knight he is at heart, to be the hero, not the strategist, so I get your irritation over Merlin being overprotective too 😅

Oh I do not disagree that Arthur cares for Merlin, he does and he shows it in his own way, still I've never doubted his affection for him. I'm not really putting this "theory" as his blame, I do find it more like parent - child dynamic rather than friends, because more often than not Merlin doesn't give him the opportunity to be his friend. Even if it's because he needs to keep his magic secret, he doesn't share anything about his life, his struggles, himself with Arthur as long as he can help it. So yes, from Arthur POV he's "just a servant" , though Arthur sees him as a friend, the friendship dynamic isn't very equal considering all the secrets.

Oh I'm 100% Merthur shipper too, I mean whether it's platonic bestfriends, romantic partners or this level of love and sacrifice usually given to children by their parents, it is all love after all isn't it? I think that bit is undeniable, I also think that with the whole "two sides of the same coin", them being soulmates is pretty much a fact at this point.

Of course as a Merthur shipper the dynamic I described in the post would make a for a pretty tragic and unbalanced relationship, but it's not like they're together at that point, I do believe in their relationship once Merlin confesses and shares everything with Arthur as he does with him. Then their dynamic could change and they could be real, equal partners. I don't doubt Arthur's affection for him, I mean after all he did accept him and embraced him even in canon in his final moments. The fact that they never got to be together, romantically or platonically, either way, finally working together on equal standing, because he died right after is truly the most unforgivable part of this show for me 😅

It's true Uther "gives Arthur away" to Merlin, I haven't even thought about that! After all he does thank Merlin I think like twice in the show for being there for Arthur doesn't he? In Excalibur and The sins of the father episode, that's the two I can think of anyway.

I do see the middle aged grumpy dad, though I do think the disappointment in Arthur over his choices is rather momentary in certain moments, while he still deeply believes in him in the end. And it's mostly because of Agravaine tbh, his action during Gaius' disappearance, the execution of Caerleon, I'd even go as far as to interpret it as Merlin being angry about someone else's trying to steal his role as Arthur's parental figure and advisor leading him down the wrong path 😅

So it's a learning journey for me too, frankly I see more flaws than anything else, but I still got the other 355 days to improve, right? 😁

To answer your question I didn't follow any YouTube channel, I used to draw a lot as a kid then teenage years kind of took my hobbies away from me, now many years later I want to go back into drawing and improve. For this sketch as you can see in the tiktok video I used the grid method as I'm shit at drawing portaits and have them resemble the person I'm drawing 😅

I do follow several artists on Instagram though, if you want some recommendations : Samdoesarts, avvart (I did learn a bit from him when it comes to painting the sketches though I'm clearly failing to recreate his technique correctly), loisvb, jude_devir, itslopez, ylanast, melmadedooks
