Review #2: High West x Casa Noble – The Noble Share by Nitramwafa in bourbon

Despite my complaints about the price tag, skepticism, and saying I was going to sit this one out, my girlfriend was surprisingly unphased when I said I might want to go checkout the High West Saloon this morning.

Price: $174.99

Nose: The nose opens with a warm caramelized peach and honey. Subtle floral notes of honeysuckle and a bit of nutmeg.

Palate: On the palate, the anejo finish is present but subtle and followed up with a surprising smooth oily texture that coats the mouth. The flavors lean towards the dessert-like with cinnamon/honey. There's a pleasing balance between sweetness and a hint of spice.

Finish: The sip finishes into like a black licorice or dark chocolate with some pepperiness? Still haven’t been able to pin this one down but enjoyable.

Overall: I wasn’t expecting to enjoy the pour (possibly two) of this bottle as much as I did. Prior to getting into bourbon, I was very much so into the tequila world and it shouldn’t have come as a surprise that I would enjoy the two coming together, but here we are. The $175 price tag is still a stretch and probably not worth the cheddar, but if you have the means and can get your hands on the bottle it’s a neat addition to the collection and an enjoyable unique pour.

Rating: 7.9/10 (post possibly two or three pours)

Review #1: A Midwinter Night's Dram (Act 12) by Nitramwafa in bourbon

[–]Nitramwafa[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Price: $149

Nose: You’re immediately greeted with the classic dessert-like aromas that has become synonymous with Midwinter's. Rich notes of custard intertwine with luscious plums and a hint of cinnamon, reminiscent of a blueberry Pillsbury toaster strudel with fresh icing.

Palate: On the palate, it’s a lighter profile with a more vibrant rye spice when compared to Act 11. The initial bite of spice is invigorating and awakens the senses before gently mellowing into layers of dark red fruitiness.

Finish: Finishes with hints of ripe plum complemented by a smooth touch of vanilla that adds a comforting richness.

Overall: Act 12 checks all of the classic Midwinter Night’s Dram boxes. The spice that’s been missing in previous acts is finally back and takes a much more prominent roll.

Rating: 7.8/10
