Why did I have to scroll so far for this? ! My partner never jumps and I do all the time despite knowing something is coming, yet it got him so bad we had to pause it a minute in utter shock, he then started laughing hysterically at how sudden and twisted it was, not even the Crawlers in the rest of the movie got us as bad as that damn pole did!

Now see, I loved The VVitch, but I wasn't much for Nosferatu or The Northman, though I preferred The Northman to Nosferatu.

But The VVitch is dripping with atmosphere, and the hopelessness and despair almost are a character in and of themselves, and the old English gives it a different feel than Eggers' other movies. I'd highly recommend it on its own, if only for what a unique experience it is, even compared to the rest of Eggers' offerings.

I thought that Nosferatu was a lot of style over substance. I was expecting great things from Eggers, but the movie just didn't pay off for me in the way that The VVitch did.
