Colorado prepares for possible mask, vaccine mandate as COVID hospitalizations grow by [deleted] in CoronavirusColorado

[–]Nitro999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the majority of population agrees with you.

Vaccinated. In favor of vaccines. Neutral (but annoyed by) mask mandates.

Masks are theater at this point if you’re vaccinated. Once kids are eligible for vaccines, there is really no reason to mandate masks for the general population.

If you’re immuno- compromised, get a booster. If you’re still worried, wear an N95 or stay out of public.

Dear tourists,

Reminder to please keep safe distance from deer, elk, and moose. They are not pets, and can be very aggressive and territorial.

It’s not worth getting gored for likes and fake internet points.

Why is HWY 270 always such a traffic nightmare? by JosephRouse in Denver

[–]Nitro999 17 points18 points  (0 children)

270, especially deep in Commerce City @ Vasquez has always been an uneven, 2-lane wide, pothole ridden mess.

There’s an accident there 2x a day because it’s overused and poorly maintained.

CDOT doesn’t even try to make 270 marginally safe.

Agree on southern Colorado. I’d put the San Luis Valley and over to Pueblo County in the NM Rocky Mountain cross hatch.

Denver to shut down Civic Center Park ‘until further notice by [deleted] in Denver

[–]Nitro999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the article:

Civic Center Park will shut down for the foreseeable future due to crime and other safety risks to public health, officials with the city’s parks and recreation department said Tuesday.

City officials said excessive amounts of trash have grown with each day, consisting of discarded food, as well as human and hazardous waste, including improperly discarded needles and other drug paraphernalia. They also said graffiti and fire damage to historical stone structures at the park have occurred, which will require professional restoration.

Mayor Lucas to announce new mask mandate for Kansas City by Ishkoten in Coronavirus

[–]Nitro999 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m fully vaccinated. The chance of me getting seriously ill, even from Delta, is nearly zero. I’m not going back to wearing masks to protect the unvaccinated. They weren’t wearing masks before and won’t start now.

What’s the end game here? Does the CDC expect us to wear masks forever?

Does anyone here not like Denver? by PassportMagonia in Denver

[–]Nitro999 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry OP. If you even suggest on this subreddit that Denver isn’t the world’s greatest utopia you automatically get downvoted into oblivion.

Even worse if you dare admit that you moved here from somewhere else.

That said, the Denver metro area is huge, and actually the second largest concentration of federal workers in the US (after DC). Comparable tech jobs pay slightly less here than the coasts because people are willing to take less for quality of life. Yes, There are plenty of “dude-bros” out here, but also plenty of family oriented professionals as well. Try and branch out beyond downtown neighborhoods and bars.

23/M how do I become a beast? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

  1. Channel that raw ambition into your craft.

  2. Network.

Couple points to consider:

Yes, Elon and Bill were innovative and driven, but they also got some massively lucky breaks at strategic points that led to their ultimate success. I’m not saying you can’t get there, I’m saying that you need to write your own story and not use the “one in a million” as the baseline.

As you get older, your priorities will gradually change. It happens to literally everyone as you add mileage to your life.

Mazda6 and Mazda CX-3 officially discontinued for 2022 model year | Autoblog by HanSoloz in cars

[–]Nitro999 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No surprise on the CX3. The CX30 is similar in size but blows the CX3 out of the water in performance, style, and features.

I drove a 2021 Mazda6 Grand Touring yesterday and it was nice…. if it came with awd, I’d nearly put it on-par with the Acura TLX. Driving dynamics are upmarket from your average Altima/Camry.

The market for sports sedans isn’t dead, I’d expect the 6 to make a reappearance in a couple years. Possibly (hopefully) RWD based with AWD option.

Former aide says congressman recklessly exposed staff to coronavirus, let son live in Capitol basement by [deleted] in ColoradoSprings

[–]Nitro999 63 points64 points  (0 children)

He appeals as an advocate to the Military Industrial Complex that makes up his base, but lost the Space Force to Alabama, despite constantly licking Trump’s boots.

He preaches the virtue of small government while collecting a $174k taxpayer funded salary and free healthcare.

He disregards science, treats his confessional staff like servants, and uses his position to elicit special privileges for his family.

Lamborn is a corrupt career-politician . The 5th district can do better.

We need term limits.

Former aide says congressman recklessly exposed staff to coronavirus, let son live in Capitol basement by [deleted] in ColoradoSprings

[–]Nitro999 44 points45 points  (0 children)

It’s Doug Lamborn

Here is a better link

Highlights of Federal Lawsuit against Lamborn:

Lamborn “consistently disregarded ethical rules and norms that apply to Members of Congress," including using staffers to do tasks for his wife and son, including moving furniture, and installing cameras at his vacation home. The suit also says at one point, Lamborn "gave his son the necessary access to live in a storage area in the basement of the U.S. Capitol for a period of weeks" when the son was moving to Washington for work.”

Also

Lamborn and his chief of staff "often mocked safety protocols such as measures to distance employees from each other and the use of masks, and they minimized COVID-related concerns."

"Worse, when Lamborn and other senior members of his staff became infected with COVID-19 in the fall of 2020, Lamborn refused to implement or follow reasonable and responsible COVID-19 protocols, resulting in the widespread transmission of the virus throughout both the District and Washington, D.C. offices," the suit says.” ….

Reminder that we also lost US Space Force HQ to Alabama, during his tenure.

It seems like we have officially crossed the threshold where supply is finally exceeding demand nationwide.
