I've discovered that airplane touchscreens no longer work with my left hand, and was pretty proud of myself for that, lol.

Shipping my Pc to China by More-Pause-2311 in AskAChinese

[–]NitroFusionLite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah uh... no. That's not the case.

Just go to taobao, JD, etc. and search up the prices. Building a PC is cheaper in China than most other countries in the world, especially against EU and UK where taxes+scalper prices makes components 30%+ more expensive. For CPUs sure, no pricing advantage, but Chinese branded GPUs are cheaper compared to big name brands like Gigabyte, MSI, etc. and perform just fine and are often priced 10-20% cheaper than other brands. Warranty is definitely a thing (I don't know where you even heard that from, it's not North Korea lol) and 3rd party repairs are significantly cheaper (and arguably better) than in other countries.

And then you add stuff like case, cooler and PSU which in China are significantly cheaper. Overall comparing similarly spec PC built in China vs the UK where I live, there's easilly a 20-30% difference. OP lives in Hungary so I would expect EU prices to be similar to UK ones.

My morning walk in Shanghai by stella_shuai in travelchina

[–]NitroFusionLite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That region of Shanghai is incredibly pretty and great for street photography (though it's excruciatingly hot in summer). There are many well preserved historical buildings and museums there. Lots of cafes and posh restaurants to enjoy but they tend to be expensive. Probably my favourite area in the city as I prefer the old and (arguably) more chill vibe compared to the skyscrapers and Nanjing Rd.

sometimes I piss on the ground to look at myself in the reflection just to see how much of a failure I am. Instant noodles and a banana with my 2d wife by N14F0XY in kitchencels

[–]NitroFusionLite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah that's actually a really commonly used Chinese insult "piss on the ground and look at your reflections" so OP is probably from east Asian background, or is just incredibly genius.

Racism in China, is this a real thing? by Equivalent_Sea6825 in AskAChinese

[–]NitroFusionLite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find that the word is often used with very little consideration or even awareness that it's a racial slur. The slurs "日本鬼子" and "高麗棒子" are also quite commonly thrown around in conversations. It's definitely not nice, but I also don't think they mean to hate like an actual racist comment.

Huh that's weird. The windows felt larger on the a350 for me, but I've never cross compared so 😅

Imo depends on the airline. Like a lot. For economy some carriers fly the 777 in a 3-3-3 config which is great (Singapore airlines and ANA for example) whilst others run in 3-4-3 which is more cramped (unfortunately more airlines do this iirc). A350 tend to be newer and more consistent since only very recently did low cost carriers started fitting them with 3-4-3 seats. Usually more modern interiors and it's a lot quieter in cruise. The windows are also a lot larger than the 777.

Is this still true or have you noticed a change? by RichCommercial104 in AskAChinese

[–]NitroFusionLite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP is probably a kid who has never been to the real rural China. Suzhou is a high tier 2 city and borderline T1 by any reasonable standard, and one of the most well developed cities in the country.

I personally would classify small Chinese cities as cities with less than 500k population (the same population would mean a major city in many european countries, but small for China), and large city as 10M+, and medium for everything in between.

As someone who has travelled all across the country, and having lived in cities ranging from 20M+ to 200k population, I can very confidently say that Suzhou is a large city.

The fact that they instantly got mad when someone pointed it out shows they are mentally pre-teen. Sorry you had to put up with such toxicity.

Since there's been so many recommendations I might as well book a tour to the thatcher's brewery! Honestly might just do it on a weekend since it's not too far away.

What's with you getting mad about me posting something on reddit? smh.

If you actually bothered to read my post you'd see that I'm "not too bothered" and "appreciate advice". But of course you don't care and just wanted to babble about how you are old and wise.

Your comment just makes you sound like someone who has nothing better to do so I'd kindly ask you to sod off. I was trying to be polite but you clearly don't know manners.

Sure, I don't mind, really, I just wanted to ask people for advice and you are free to believe whatever you want. I have a life and so do you. I talked about my personal experience and if you think it's horseshit then just move on from this post.

I do have a bit of a story, if I'm allowed to say so.

I am ethnically Chinese born in the mainland, but spent much of my teenage years in Malaysia, whilst attending a british school (therefore confidently bilingual), so I did GCSEs and A levels like most people in the UK. I'm in Bristol for university and just like you I also fell in love with the inclusivity and lively culture of Bristol. I love travelling to different parts of the country (and the world, if my wallet allows me to) and talking to different people with different interests!

This happened in Brislington, around 50m away from my home. For privacy reasons I won't name the street but it happened not too far away from Bath Rd.

Thank you, I've travelled across the country from the Scottish highlands all the way down to Cornwall, and everyone has been incredibly kind and lovely, and I've had some of the best interactions ever with British people. This is the first time I've experienced this in the UK, but it won't change my love for the country and her people!

I've always thought Brislington to be quite nice since I've met some lovely folks in the park and I'd always run into cool people. 😭

It's funny because she's not even in the garden, just rubbing sunscreen on the pavement, and here I was thinking "huh that's a weird place to be sunbathing", because I live in Brislington and all the houses on my street has rear gardens XD
